We raise our concern over the delayed suspension of face-to-face classes, which left students to confront worse weather conditions, disrupted transportation, and flooded roads before preventive measures were implemented.
Class suspensions are not merely administrative decisions. They directly affect the safety of students, faculty, personnel, commuters, and families who depend on timely announcements to make informed decisions. Academic continuity should never come at the expense of student welfare. When severe weather conditions are already expected and risks continue to escalate, institutions and government authorities must act with urgency instead of waiting for circumstances to worsen before responding.

Public service must be measured not by how quickly officials respond once a crisis has escalated, but by how effectively they prevent foreseeable risks from becoming crises in the first place.

Elections, policies, budgets, and government decisions have consequences that eventually reach our homes, streets, schools, and communities. Competence, accountability, and concern for the people must remain non-negotiable standards for those who seek and hold public office.

We refuse to normalize a system wherein action is only taken after students already have been exposed to danger, and we refuse to accept recurring failures as realities Filipinos must simply learn to endure.
The monster was never the stormโit was the failure to act before the people were forced to face it.
