Global Shapers Manila Hub proudly joined the 2026 National Retreat of the in the Philippines, graciously hosted by . ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ญ

Through meaningful immersions in arts and culture, deeper and intentional conversations on pressing socio-political issues, and shared experiences in community building, we strengthened not only our connections with one another, but also our collective commitment to serve.

This retreat reminded us that in the face of challenging times, what we do matters, but even more so, why and how we do it. With renewed purpose and inspiration, we move forward, grounded in service and aligned with the community. โœจ

โš ๏ธ UPDATE! Thanks to your generosity, weโ€™ve raised Php 57,020 and we are deeply grateful for your kindness. Your support brings hope to the millions affected by Typhoon Tino (Kalmaegi), many of whom have lost their homes, livelihoods, and sense of safety.

The need is still great, but because of you, more families will receive the care and assistance they urgently need. Letโ€™s continue standing together for those who rely on our compassion the most.

We were able to provide relief goods for affected families โ€” including 200 kg of rice, 370 L of water, 200 cans of tuna, 10 boxes of juice, and 16 packs of biscuits. These supplies helped ensure that families received essential food and hydration during a difficult time.

We also donated half of the cash proceeds to Angat Buhay, supporting their ongoing efforts to reach and assist communities severely impacted by Typhoon Tino (Kalmaegi).

Thank you for extending compassion and solidarity when it was needed most. Your kindness made a real difference. ๐Ÿ’™

CALD x GSM Fireside Chat with Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Oleksandra Matviichuk

On 17 November 2025, together with our co-organizers FNF, CALD, and CALD Youth, we hosted a fireside chat at Hotel Benilde that brought together diplomats, civil society leaders, academics, and youth networks for an intimate conversation on defending human rights in an age of aggression.

Oleksandra Matviichuk, Chairwoman of Ukraineโ€™s Center for Civil Liberties and 2022 Nobel Peace Prize recipient, shared powerful insights on the personal cost of human rights work, the legacy of Euromaidan, non-violent resistance amid war, rebuilding trust between security forces and communities, and strengthening international and domestic accountability.

The dialogue connected the Ukrainian and Philippine experiences, highlighting common struggles against impunity, corruption, and democratic backsliding. Participants reflected on lessons for local reforms, the role of civil society and youth, and the importance of global solidarity that transcends geopolitical divides.

We extend our appreciation to our partners and co-organizers FNF, CALD, and CALD Youth for making this gathering possible, and to everyone who joined the conversation and continues the work of protecting freedom and dignity.
