First, on June 12, 1898, General Emilio Aguinaldo declared freedom from Spain in Kawit, Cavite, though it was not internationally recognized; Spain later ceded the country to the U.S. Second, on October 14, 1943, Japan proclaimed independence during World War II, but this was only symbolic as it remained under occupation. Finally, on July 4, 1946, the U.S. granted full, internationally recognized sovereignty. July 4 was originally Independence Day until 1964, when it was changed to June 12 to honor the original declaration.

Nakikiisa ngayon ang ๐€๐†๐Ž๐’ ๐Œ๐š๐ค๐š๐ญ๐ข sa pagdiriwang ng ๐—ช๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—น๐—ฑ ๐—˜๐—ป๐˜ƒ๐—ถ๐—ฟ๐—ผ๐—ป๐—บ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜ ๐——๐—ฎ๐˜† at kasabay nito ang Environmental Fair na inorganisa ng Youth Advocates of Climate Action Philippines (YACAP), kasama ang ibaโ€™t ibang samahan ng kabataan, mga konseho ng mga mag-aaral, at mga indibidwal na tagapagtaguyod.

Kasabay nito, isinasagawa rin nila ang pangangalap ng mga lagda bilang suporta sa Anti-Dynasty Bill sa Liwasang Bonifacio, Plaza Lawton. Para sa mga nagnanais na dumalo at bisitahin ang aming pwesto, kami ay naririto at handang tumanggap sa inyo hanggang alas-singko ng hapon.

A policy mapping on just transition by Ecorys (tag) found that national policies in four Southeast Asian countries have increasingly mainstreamed just transition or its principles, but the implementation on the ground is inconsistent and symbolic.

Inconsistent and symbolic implementation stemming from mixed signals for policy and practice, means we are not dealing with the crisis urgently.

As we celebrate the ๐๐ก๐ข๐ฅ๐ข๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ข๐ง๐ž ๐„๐ง๐ฏ๐ข๐ซ๐จ๐ง๐ฆ๐ž๐ง๐ญ ๐ƒ๐š๐ฒ this 5 June 2026, we must remind all stakeholders to address the climate transition in a fast and fair way, and anticipate the potential impacts on ecosystems and people.
