IOM Philippines is proud to continue its strong collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare and Development - DSWD in advancing disaster preparedness and response in the country.

As part of our commitment to supporting government efforts, we are grateful for the opportunity to share our expertise in emergency response, particularly in strengthening Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM). This includes integrating heat-resilient practices and heat emergency planning, solarization, and the redesign of tents in evacuation centers to better respond to the evolving needs of displaced families, especially in light of the ongoing El Niรฑo alert.

IOM looks forward to further engaging DSWD in other initiatives, including its participation in the Philippine Climate Mobility Investment Plan (CMIP).

Together, we are working toward more responsive, data-driven, and climate-resilient humanitarian systems that better protect vulnerable communities across the Philippines.

"We are inspired by the efforts and the potential of Filipino migrant workers. As a visitor of the country who has been living in the Philippines for over 4 years, I have been impressed and humbled by the resilience and resourcefulness of Filipinos who seek employment overseas to achieve a better quality of life for themselves and their families. Truly, OFWs are nation builders," saad ni Ms. Tomita.

This , IOM spotlights young leaders answering the global call for climate action. In Bicol, youth advocate Mark reminds us of the importance of listening to young voices, whose fresh perspectives are vital to shaping sustainable climate solutions.

Locally driven, youth-led initiatives are creating meaningful impact for communities on the frontlines of climate change.

Through the Resilience, Innovation, and Sustainability for Empowered Youth (RISE) project, young advocates receive training and capacity-building to strengthen their ability to respond to how climate change is already shaping the way communities live, move, adapt, and rebuild. The RISE project is supported by the IOM Development Fund.

05/06/2026

In the face of climate impacts, no family should be forced to make impossible choices โ€” whether to stay and rebuild, or to move in search of safety and opportunity.

This , IOM calls for bold investments in people and solutions that reduce risk, build resilience, and protect every family's right to stay, return, or move with dignity, because climate mobility must always be a choice, never a necessity.

05/06/2026

This , youth are leading the way in climate action. In Bicol, young advocates like Mark are stepping up to drive climate adaptation and resilience in their communities.

Through the Resilience, Innovation, and Sustainability for Empowered Youth (RISE) project, a pilot initiative supported by the IOM Development Fund, young leaders are turning ideas into action for a more sustainable and resilient future.
