FEATURED:

The fellow student who uplifts and guides others to their identity.

Rebellious, because he doesn't believe in societal norms. Relentless, because he doesn't believe in mediocrity. Resilient, for he doesn't want anyone around him to be boxed by their doubt.

In debates they call him the professor, for he becomes the teacher when others feel overwhelmed. Because for him, composure turns the odds to your favor.

He wants anyone around him to think like a jazz musician. Improvise but never lose your way.

Because to craft yourself with greatness is to compose your own reckoning force.

Former Executive Secretary, Founding Member

FEATURED:

The visionary who sought passion for others.

A radical love, that was his ideas and his voice. A pursuit to make others feel that they are heard whether in solitude or fellowship. Because for him, enthusiasm also includes compassion for others.

In debates, he speaks points where everyone hears their inclusion and identity. For he is amongst those who have the freedom to have thought of others. And always uses that opportunity to seek compassion.

Where others saw severed endings, he traced the lines of connections.

Because for him, the world becomes wider if you imagine it.

Former Deputy Prime Minister, Founding Member

FEATURED:

Born with the purpose to lead at great heights.

The resume in academic competitions speaks to the height of excellence she holds. But one trait stands out, she is the leader who leads by heart.

Her journey in academic institutions has made anyone believe that she is destined with achievements. A leader that excels with a heart, pushing anyone around her to reach their goals. Because for her, no achievement is too small for she holds kindness and trust to anyone believing in themselves.

A Prime Minister who set the standard for what excellence meant.

Because for her, to achieve greatness, is to believe first that you can.

Ms. Kei Ruz Concepcion
Emeritus Prime Minister, Head Founding member

On this day of 24th of April, a vision found its voice.

Today, we commemorate the establishment of the UMak Debate Society, a community built on the power of ideas, critical thinking, and fearless expression. What started as a shared passion for discourse has grown into a platform where minds are sharpened, perspectives are challenged, and leaders are shaped.

As we look back on this milestone, we celebrate not just our founding, but the journey of every speaker who dared to stand, speak, and make an impact.
