Abdulrahman Al Mannai elected FIM Asia President 2026-2029

Mr. Abdulrahman Al Mannai was elected President of FIM Asia (21 out of 28 votes) at the FIM Asia General Assembly held in Bangkok, Thailand, on Friday, 23 January.

Representing the Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF), Mr. Abdulrahman Al Mannai has been President of the QMMF since 2016 and was re-elected to the FIM Board of Directors in 2024.

He succeeds Mr. Stephan Carapiet, President of the National Motorcycle Sports and Safety Association (NAMSSA) of the Philippines, who previously served as President of FIM Asia from 2010 to 2013, then from 2018 to 2021, and finally from 2022 to 2025 and meeting the 12 year term maximum elected position.

The elected Board of Director Members of FIM Asia, whose terms will be aligned with that of the President, are Mr. Mohammed Rhiza Bin Ghazi (MAM-Malaysia), Ms. Gong Hong Guo (CMSA-China), and Mr. Kraitos Wongsawan (FMSCT-Thailand). Following two tie results in the election of the fourth Board of Director Member, this vote will be deferred to the FIM Asia General Assembly in 2026.

Following the election, FIM President Jorge Viegas stated: “The FIM Asia General Assembly elected Abdulrahman Al Mannai as President, along with his team, who will lead the thirty Asian National Motorcycling Federations (FMNs) during his term. I wish Abdulrahman, Mohammed, Gong, and Kraitos every success in their work to further develop motorcycling activities in Asia. I would also like to thank Stephan Carapiet for his commitment during his three terms.”

FIM Asia President Abdulrahman Al Mannai added: “FIM Asia plays a vital role in strengthening cooperation among member federations and supporting the growth of our sport at all levels. In this new chapter, I look forward to working closely with each federation to build on our achievements, enhance our programmes and initiatives, and further promote the values of safety, integrity, professionalism, and sporting excellence.”

2025 FIM Asia General Assembly - Bangkok

FIM ASIA proudly hosted the highly successful 2025 FIM Asia General Assembly and Gala Awards Night in the vibrant city of Bangkok.

This prestigious event brought together 30 member federations from across Asia, all united in their passion for advancing motorcycle sports in the region.

The assembly served as a platform for discussing key initiatives aimed at promoting the growth and development of motorcycle racing, enhancing safety standards, and fostering collaboration among member nations.

The evening culminated in a glamorous gala awards ceremony, where outstanding achievements in the sport were recognized and celebrated.

Participants had the opportunity to network and share insights, reinforcing their commitment to elevating motorcycle sports in Asia to new heights. The event not only highlighted the importance of unity among federations but also showcased the rich potential of motorcycle racing in the continent.

In addition to the assembly, participants had the opportunity to unwind during a specially organised excursion to the renowned Thailand Circuit in Nakhornchaisri. This venue is not only a cornerstone for motorcycle sports in Thailand but also a training ground for aspiring athletes striving to make their mark in the competitive world of motorsports. The excursion offered attendees a chance to experience the thrilling ambiance of motorcycle racing firsthand, further igniting their passion for the sport.

The day of relaxation culminated in the exhilarating R2M Asia Festival of Speed x Thailand Circuit Meet for Speed, where attendees were treated to a delightful Seafood BBQ feast. This social gathering provided a wonderful opportunity for networking, allowing members of the motorcycle sports community to connect with industry partners and share insights into the future of motorcycle racing in Asia. Overall, the event was a resounding success, highlighting FIM Asia's commitment to nurturing and promoting motorcycle sports while fostering camaraderie among its members.
