From the City of Majestic Waterfalls to the majestic seas of the world, another voyage begins.

Batch 25 Fitter Machinist scholar Yan Rey Baroro of Tubod, Iligan City, learned the value of perseverance and dedication at an early age. He often accompanied his father, a construction laborer, to work and offered help whenever he could. To support his education, Yan Rey began driving a pedicab during his elementary years and continued doing so through senior high school to help cover his school expenses.

Today, Yan Rey takes another meaningful step toward fulfilling his dreams as he begins his journey as a seafarer.

May your course ahead be filled with success, growth, and safe voyages, Yan Rey.

Sea Sunday is an annual Mass celebration dedicated to all seafarers and their families worldwide. Honoring their service, sacrifices, and contributions in keeping our world moving.

This year's Mass was held at the Church of the Holy Trinity in Makati City, organized by Sailors' Society and sponsored by Pandiman Philippines Inc.

The Propeller Club of Manila was honored to take part in this meaningful occasion. Our scholars participated in the Prayers for the People, offering prayers in recognition of the men and women who dedicate their lives to serving at sea.

To all seafarers and their families, thank you for your unwavering commitment, resilience, and service.

We are proud to share that, after nearly three months on board, Batch 25 Fitter Machinist scholar AJ Macandog has received an excellent evaluation for his work performance. Some opportunities don't just teach, they inspire.

Batch 26 Fitter Machinist scholars recently had the privilege of attending the West Maritime Officers Conference 2026 hosted by the West of England P&I Club. While the conference is primarily intended for maritime officers, our scholars were fortunate to gain firsthand insights into the role of Protection and Indemnity in the shipping industry.

Led by Dean Crossley, Head of Loss Prevention Asia and Captain P*k Ki Yung, Loss Prevention Officer, the sessions covered topics including:
- Understanding P&I
- Commercial Awareness
- Crew Illness, Injury, and Mental Health
- Engine Room Technical Management
- Code of Safe Practice for Cargo Stowage and Securing (CSS Code)

One of the highlights was the case study and mixed-group workshop, where our scholars worked alongside experienced maritime officers to analyze practical scenarios and discuss possible solutions.

This learning experience was made possible through the support of our Club Trustee Captain Andy Malpass, President of Pandiman Philippines, the Philippine Correspondent of the West of England P&I Club.

Our heartfelt appreciation also goes to Dean and Captain P*k Ki for taking the time after the conference to chat with our scholars, sharing their wisdom and words of encouragement.

We also thank all the maritime officers in attendance for welcoming our scholars, sharing their knowledge and experiences, and making the conference a more meaningful learning opportunity.

Behind every successful program is a network of committed individuals who share their time, expertise, and resources to create meaningful learning opportunities for our scholars.

Our Batch 26 Fitter Machinist scholars just leveled up their skills and knowledge through a complimentary two-day training session on "Introduction to AUX Engine Room Equipment" led by John Arancillo, Training Manager of RJH Consultancy, Inc.

This valuable training equipped our scholars with essential technical knowledge and practical insights, helping build a strong foundation for their future seafaring careers.

Our deepest gratitude to Club member, Rick Hartley, Chairman and CEO of RJH Consultancy, Inc., for his continued support and commitment to investing in the development of our scholars.

A farmer boy that has a dream

Every poem tells a story, and every recitation builds confidence.

Our scholars took center stage during their English class activity, sharing original poems they wrote and recited themselves.

Beyond improving English language skills, the activity encouraged self-expression, creativity, and the courage to speak in English with confidence.

Thank you, Teacher Diana, for your commitment and guidance in improving the scholars' English communication skills that will serve them in their future seafaring career.

Building confidence, communication skills, and teamwork, one project at a time!

As part of their English lessons, our Batch 26 scholars took on a Ship Scale Model Presentation Project. They didn't just build amazing models; they also put their English vocabulary, public speaking, and confidence to the test.

Guided by Teacher Diane, the scholars split into four groups and presented their projects entirely in English.

To reward their hard work, all four groups received cash prizes courtesy of Third Officer Jhomar Cordial, a Batch 6 scholar who is now a valued member of the Club. Thank you so much, Third Officer Cordial! Your generosity is such an inspiring example of paying forward the opportunities that helped shape your own journey.

Congratulations, Batch 26 scholars, for your creativity, teamwork, and confidence. Keep learning, keep growing, and keep steering a steady course toward your dreams!
