Eid Mubarak to the Ateneo Law School Community!

Eid al-Adha is a Muslim holiday that embodies the values of sacrifice, unity, and compassion. Translated as Festival of Sacrifices, Eid al-Adha marks the culmination of the Hajj rites in Islam.

Hajj, the fifth pillar of Islam, refers to the pilgrimage to Mecca done to commemorate the sacrifice of Abraham. In solidarity with the pilgrims, Muslims all over the world celebrate this special occasion.

Let us come together to reflect on the significance of this event.

Yesterday was a momentous event for our organization. A dialogue was held between the Muslim students and student leaders of the Ateneo School of Law and Supreme Court Justice Japar B. Dimaampao, the second Muslim from the Bangsamoro region to join the Philippine Supreme Court. The discussion revolved around the jurisdiction of Sharia law and how it can be improved, as well as the latest jurisprudence on the matter. It was a fruitful exchange of ideas that deepened our understanding of the subject. As part of the celebration of Eid al-Fitr, last week, we also shared a meal and performed Maghrib prayer together, strengthening the sense of community and camaraderie among us. It was truly an event to remember. Alhamdulilah!

The Ateneo Law Association for Muslim Students would like to wish our community a very happy Eid al-Fitr! May this blessed occasion bring you and your loved ones joy, peace, and prosperity.

As we celebrate the end of the holy month of Ramadan, let us remember the lessons of patience, kindness, and generosity that it has taught us. Let's continue to embody these virtues in our daily lives, and let's remember those who are less fortunate than us.

We pray that Allah accepts our fasts, our prayers, and our good deeds, and may He bless us all with His divine mercy and guidance.
