💗 Women’s Month Kickoff: CerviQ Brings Cervical Cancer Screening to Rizal Memorial Coliseum
The celebration of National Women’s Month 2026 officially began today as the Philippine Commission on Women hosted its Kickoff Ceremony at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum in Manila—bringing together advocates, government agencies, and organizations committed to empowering Filipino women.
Among the invited partners was End Cervical Cancer Philippines Organization Inc. (CerviQ), which provided cervical cancer screening using the speculoscope-assisted VIA system.
Just like in our ongoing screening initiatives in Marikina, women who participated were able to register, get screened, and receive their results through email before leaving the venue—a seamless process made possible through our collaboration with Care Connect Philippines.
This approach shows how technology can bring faster, more accessible cervical cancer screening directly to communities.
✨ Young Advocates Stepping Up
Adding energy to the event were OJT interns from Health Screen Laboratory and Diagnostic Center, who actively supported the advocacy through flyering and awareness activities.
They also helped promote the importance of HPV vaccination, highlighting protection offered by the HPV 9-valent vaccine—an important step in preventing HPV-related diseases, including cervical cancer.
🌸 A Celebration of Women and Community
The kickoff ceremony also featured booths and exhibits from various organizations supporting women’s empowerment, including:
• Bureau of Jail Management and Penology showcasing livelihood products made by Persons Deprived of Liberty
• Bureau of Plant Industry distributing seedlings
• Small Business Corporation of the Department of Trade and Industry
• PATAMABA
• Maynilad Water Services
• Voice of the Free
• Mercury Drug
• Angel’s Burger
• Dizon Farms
• Compact Pharmaceuticals
• AN Blooms
Together, these initiatives showcased how health, livelihood, and social programs can work hand in hand to uplift women and communities.
📣 Next Stop: The W.O.M.E.N. Show
Our CerviQ team and student volunteers will be back in action at the W.O.M.E.N. Show 2026 on March 23–24 at Ayala Malls Circuit, organized by Soroptimist International of Metro Circuit.
More awareness.
More women empowered.
More lives protected.
Because when women take charge of their health, entire communities become stronger.

Marikina’s 3rd Thursday of Free Cervical Cancer Screening 💗
Marikina City successfully conducted the 3rd run of its weekly Free Cervical Cancer Screening, highlighting a new digital workflow developed in collaboration with Care Connect Philippines and End Cervical Cancer Philippines Organization Inc. (CerviQ).
The system makes screening more seamless and efficient:
✔ Patients register via QR code onsite or offsite
✔ Clinic managers schedule and manage patient flow
✔ Cervical images are captured using speculoscope-assisted VIA
✔ Doctors can evaluate remotely or onsite
✔ A ready-to-print report is generated after diagnosis
This week’s rotating midwives from Concepcion Uno and Parang Health Centers successfully screened 17 women, continuing Marikina’s effort to expand cervical cancer prevention services across the city.
📢 Schedule Update:
There will be no screening on March 12.
The next session resumes March 19.
Every Thursday brings Marikina closer to accessible, technology-enabled cervical cancer prevention. 💕

📍 PALACIO DEL GOBERNADOR, INTRAMUROS - The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) recently hosted “Shine a Light on Cervical Cancer: What is HPV?”—an HPV and Cervical Cancer Awareness Lecture at its Session Hall, bringing together healthcare advocates and public servants for an important conversation on prevention.
Led by the COMELEC Health Services Division under Dr. Zosino Gerard R. Sallao Jr. and Dr. Marilou Pangalangan, in partnership with Pharma Quest and Merck Sharp & Dohme, the initiative highlighted a powerful message:
👉 HPV is common—but cervical cancer is preventable.
Cervical cancer is one of the few cancers that can be prevented—and even eliminated—through:
✔️ HPV vaccination
✔️ Regular screening (Pap smear, VIA, HPV-DNA testing)
✔️ Early treatment of precancerous lesions
Through education and awareness, participants were empowered to protect themselves and their families.
Because when institutions take the lead in health advocacy, the impact goes beyond the workplace—it reaches homes, communities, and future generations.
✨ Knowledge dispels fear.
✨ Prevention saves lives.
✨ Early detection changes outcomes.
Let’s continue to educate, vaccinate, and screen—toward a cervical cancer–free Philippines. 💗

💗 Girl Power Laban sa Kanser - Check It, Beat It💗
Strengthening Women’s Health in the City of Santo Tomas
On February 24, the City of Santo Tomas, together with Batangas Medical Center and DOH–CHD CALABARZON, successfully held the “Check It, Beat It” Cancer Awareness and Screening Program — bringing life-saving services closer to women in the community.
Women from different barangays received:
✔️ Cancer prevention education
✔️ Clinical Breast Examination (CBE)
✔️ Cervical cancer screening through VIA
A highlight of the event was the demonstration of the speculoscope-assisted VIA, enhancing cervical screening through magnified visualization, clearer detection of suspicious lesions, image documentation, and tele-evaluation support.
Since March 2025, this innovation has been officially integrated into the city’s program under:
✨ Aksyon Bilis: Girl Power Laban sa Kanser
Isang programang nagbibigay ng pag-asa, lakas, at inspirasyon sa ating mga kababaihan.
To date, over 400 women have been screened — with a target of 2,400 women by year-end through a Barangay-to-Barangay campaign aligned with HPV vaccination efforts.
Cervical cancer is preventable. It is detectable. And together, it can be eliminated.
💪 Protect women.
🏥 Strengthen communities.
🎀 Move toward a cervical cancer–free future.

🌸 Wheel Can Cerv Midyear Report 🌸

During the 59th National Conference on February 17, 2025, at Royce Hotel and Casino, Clark Pampanga, our Wheel Can Cerv Committee Chair, PDC Jovita "Bing" De Jesus, proudly presented the midyear report for Wheel Can Cerv—our initiative dedicated to cervical cancer awareness and screening.

📢 Her inspiring message:

✨ "The INNER WHEEL CERVICAL CANCER ELIMINATION CAMPAIGN, known as 'WHEEL CAN CERV,' began in the Philippines and has now grown into an internationally recognized IWC-directed project.

Join me in watching a short clip that highlights our remarkable progress over the past three years. Together, we’ve saved lives, raised awareness, and empowered countless women.

As we celebrate this milestone, let us take a moment to congratulate each other and appreciate the dedication that has brought this campaign to life. But our work is far from over. What we have accomplished is just the beginning, a small glimpse of what still needs to be done.

I urge each of you to continue supporting this mission in concrete ways:

1️⃣ Amplify Our Visibility. Include the WHEEL CAN CERV logo in all your cervical cancer and HPV awareness initiatives, screenings, and events. A strong, unified brand strengthens our impact.

2️⃣ Share Your Impact. Submit a copy of your campaign reports so we can highlight them through our social media platforms and an upcoming website. Your efforts deserve recognition, and your stories will inspire others to take action.

3️⃣ Leverage National Partnerships. Thanks to our connection with our keynote speaker, Dr. Jan Llevado, Director of Cancer Control, Department of Health, we now have the opportunity to collaborate on FREE HPV vaccination projects in your communities. Let’s make this life-saving vaccine accessible to more people!

4️⃣ Embrace Innovation. Our partner CerviQ, alongside DOST - Advanced Science and Technology, has successfully developed a locally manufactured speculoscope (speculum scope) that will enhance cervical cancer screening. This breakthrough will also pave the way for Filipino-specific AI technology that will revolutionize early detection and diagnosis.

💜 Let’s keep the momentum going, expand our reach, and push forward together toward a future free from cervical cancer! 💪
