MakSci DRRM Successfully Conducts 1st National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill for 2026

Taguig, Philippines—On Thursday, March 12, 2026, Makati Science High School actively participated in the 1st Quarter National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill.

The drill, spearheaded by the Makati Science High School Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (MakSci DRRM) team, in collaboration with the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) and the Girl Scouts of the Philippines (GSP), with support from the BDRRM of Cembo, aimed to strengthen the school community’s disaster preparedness and resillience in the case of an actual earthquake.

This drill reflects the school's continuous commitment to reinforcing disaster readiness and awareness among students, faculty, and stakeholders.

Through the effective ex*****on of this drill, MakSci DRRM was able to conduct the evacuation for 4 minutes, further embedding a culture of preparedness and resillience among everyone on campus.

MakSci DRRM Conducts Fire Drill for 2026

Taguig, Philippines—On Tuesday, March 10, 2026, Makati Science High School successfully conducted the Fire Drill as part of the Fire Prevention Month celebration.

The drill, spearheaded by the Makati Science High School Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (MakSci DRRM) team, alongside the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) and the Girl Scouts of the Philippines (GSP), with support from the Bureau of Fire Protection of Taguig City aimed at honing the disaster preparedness in response to an actual event of a fire emergency.

A brief lecture was followed by FO1 Michael Angelo Tubog at the assembly site highlighting the importance of conducting fire drills, along with general information on the types of fire and fire extinguishers. This was followed by an orientation for the student-volunteers on the proper use of a fire extinguisher. Additionally, these initiatives highlight the school's dedication to promoting safety and awareness of all its students, faculty, and stakeholders.

Through the effective ex*****on of this drill, MakSci DRRM was able to conduct the aforementioned activities, further embedding a culture of preparedness and resilience among everyone on campus.

MakSci DRRM conducts Basic Life Support Training (BLST) 2025

The Basic Life Support Training (BLST) was held on November 21 and 22, which focused on fostering preparedness and developing essential first-aid skills such as proper assessment, CPR, and bandaging techniques.

The initiative was spearheaded by the School Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (SDRRMC) in partnership with the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) and the Girl Scouts of the Philippines, the initiative seeks to build a safer and more prepared community by equipping student volunteers with the basic knowledge of first aid.

With the guidance of dedicated responders from Barangay Rizal’s BDRRM Team, led by the main trainer Jhoevelle Garcia—the student volunteers were also taught hands-on experience on responding to cases of CPR and multiple types of bandage covering.
