July 26, 2025 – A Day of Service, A Day of Joy
July 26, 2025 was a truly meaningful and heartfelt day—one that filled the members of the D3830 People of Action, Community Service team and other Rotarians with the familiar surge of joy we all experience each time we serve.
Our oxytocin and endorphins were in full bloom, thanks to the collective spirit of compassion and unity that marked the day. The mission also coincided with National Persons With Disabilities week long celebration hence the theme "emPoWereD: Health and Wellness Caravan".
More than 40 Rotary clubs from District 3830 came together at SM Sucat, Parañaque, for a massive medical and wellness mission. The United for Good Presidents (UGP) mobilized their clubs, members, and volunteers to serve hundreds of beneficiaries with dedication and warmth.
This mission was made possible through the leadership of UGP Emil Orencia of RM Makati F. Zobel, UGP Geraldine Magdangal of RC Makati Salcedo, UGP Linda Moya of RC Makati Ayala Triangle, UGP Randi Lorica of RC Makati San Antonio, and UGP Armstrong De Castro of RCMAT Soaring Trail Blazer.
The event was supported by D3830 People of Action and District Community Service Team through AOF Disease Prevention and Treatment Chair Bernard Herrera; the team is ably headed by CP Lucille Lopez of RCM F. Zobel, one of the Avenues of Service under the stewardship of PP Doris Ensomo from RCM San Antonio.
Here are some of the highlights:
• 51 persons with disabilities (PWDs) received brand new, custom-assessed wheelchairs—giving them newfound mobility and empowering them to be more active and productive members of society.
• 64 patients were assessed for prosthetic legs, with 12 more scheduled for follow-up due to fresh wounds.
• 316 patients underwent eye screening, with at least 100 prescription eyeglasses to be distributed free of charge.
• 65 cataract patients were referred to our partner hospital, with 2 urgent cases fast-tracked for immediate surgery—free of charge.
• 2 cleft palate patients were endorsed for free corrective surgery.
• Over 500 individuals received consultations for ENT and other medical conditions.
• 12,600 ml of blood were donated—with PP Doris humbly contributing the first 450 ml.
This was service at its best—Rotarians united for good, empowering communities and transforming lives.
