ROTARACT CLUB OF UPD-EPP

All Star President: Samantha Balando

WHAT IS ROTARACT? Rotaract is an international service club for young men and women who are committed to service and leadership in their communities and abroad. Its purpose is to provide them an opportunity to enhance their knowledge and skills that will assist them in personal development, to address the physical and social needs of

their communities, and to promote better relations between all people worldwide through a framework of friendship and service. WHY IS IT CALLED ROTARACT? It is a combination of two words: ROTARY and ACTION! Even before the first Rotaract Club in 1968, youths have been working closely with the Rotary and were inspired to build their own organization, which they called Rotaract. And that’s what we aim to do here as well, TAKE ACTION in line with the goals of the Rotary. "Service above self,” the official motto of the Rotary and the Rotaract Clubs of the world, is an expression of Rotary/Rotaract dedication to serve the community and is the thread that runs throughout the Rotary world and unites like-mind people in thought and action, no matter in what part of the world they live.

“Fellowship through service,” the official motto of Rotaract, represents the spirit and enthusiasm of individuals who are bonded through Rotaract experience. WHAT ARE THE GOALS OF ROTARACT?

1. To develop professional and leadership skills;

2. To emphasize respect for the rights of others, and to promote ethical standards and the dignity of all useful occupations;

3. To provide opportunities for young people to address the needs and concerns of the community and our world;

4. To provide opportunities for working in cooperation with sponsoring Rotary clubs; and,

5. To motivate young people for eventual membership in Rotary. WHAT DO WE DO AT ROTARACT? We hold meetings which feature speakers, discussions, and visits to other clubs. We also get together for service projects, social activities, and leadership workshops; and beyond the club level, we participate in district conferences, projects, training seminars and international meetings.
