To survive on a chilly winterโ€™s day, a pack of wolves hunt together. They use strategy and collaboration to achieve success.

On the cold afternoon of October 17, 2025, at Don Bosco Mabalacat, students and teachers reconnected through this weekโ€™s club meetings, where leaders learn to serve and servants learn to lead.

Laughter, chatter, and camaraderie filled the academy, as each club reviewed its mission and history. The day concluded with the praying of the Holy Rosary and the solemn lowering of the Philippine flag.

On the pouring noons of September 16โ€“18, 2025, at Don Bosco Academy Mabalacat Inc., the houses of Haraya, Indayog, Sandigani, and Tudla played against each other in games of sports. The students all played fiercely to bring victory to their sections and to exhibit their prowess in sports. The sports played were basketball, football, volleyball, badminton, billiards, chess, swimming, aquathlon, table tennis, agawan ng panyo, patintero, and sack race.

The intramurals always began with a prayer for the well-being of everyone throughout the rest of the day. Before each house competed against the others, Sir Arman announced what to do during and after the intramurals to ensure the safety of the students. Basketball, volleyball, and football were the sports that truly set the stage, all three becoming the most eye-catching of all the sports and the highlights of the intramurals. Other sports, however, were not as fortunate due to inclement weather canceling them, and because of this, some houses were not able to showcase their skills. Nonetheless, all was well, as every house gave every game a good fight.

After every competition, the intramurals always ended with final prayers and reminders to prepare for the following days of intramurals. Each day was filled with determination and passion that burned like an inferno from each house, only growing with each collected loss and victory. As we wrapped up our final day, each member from each house had done their part and given their all. We could only expect good sportsmanship, the determination to do better, and the cheers as we clear the way for the turn of our SHS Bosconians.

"Matibay ang walis palibhasa'y nakabigkis" meaning "a broom is sturdy because its strands are tightly bound," an ancient Tagalog phrase that highlights unity. Alayon, meaning alliance, is meant to show the strength of unity and what it can achieve. Four houses โ€” Haraya, Sandigani, Tudla, Indayog โ€” with a clear purpose fulfilled what alayon highlights through their long awaited performances.

The gymnasium was illuminated by a strong light; the audience filled with family members sat in anticipation. As the Holy Mass reached at an end, students and educators prepared for a monumental performance filled with voices and stomps from the Bosconians. They were lined outside of the gymnasium while the audience were being greeted. As the cue was given, each house rushed to their respective bleachers. Enthusiasm was high, and excitement was even higher while each house yelled with their hearts. As they got in their places, they stood up to sing the national anthem and witness the presentation of athletes. After that, the long awaited opening of the intramurals began with each house's yell. Each was unique with deep lyrics and meaning while their voices echoed throughout the gymnasium. Then, it became time for the dancers. Each house's dance was filled with grace; each stomp of their feet had power. Each sway and movement of their hand was like that of wind โ€” all the while the yellers cheered on.

Near the end, the awards were given to the houses. Each house had their triumphs and time of cheer and that each award was a testament to all their efforts and sweat. Every chant and every movement showed that there is a story to tell behind them. Before and during the intramurals, each house and each Bosconian truly followed on what Alayon was meant, Unity and resilience.

Every year, we pause to remember the life and sacrifice of Benigno โ€œNinoyโ€ Aquino Jr. For many, he was more than just a politician โ€” he was a symbol of courage, faith, and selfless love for our nation. His decision to return to the Philippines in 1983, despite knowing he will lose his life, showed the world that true heroism means not prioritizing oneโ€™s own safety, but sacrifice and service for a cause.

Ninoy once said, โ€œThe Filipino is worth dying forโ€ . These words continue to echo past generation after generation, reminding us that real heroes are not measured by power, but by their willingness to be servant leaders. Ninoyโ€™s martyrdom did not end with his death, it sparked something in the Filipinos, something that inspired a movement that ended a dictatorship, and restored democracy and hope in every Filipino.

For us Bosconians, his story is more than just a part of history. It is a reflection of the values that Don Bosco taught us: faith, service, and heroism. Heroism is not always about dying for oneโ€™s cause. It is found in simple but sincere acts, acts where we stand for truth, serve others with love, and live each day with courage and integrity.

As we commemorate Ninoy Aquino Day, we are reminded that each of us is called to live with a heart like Ninoy, a heroโ€™s heart. Like Don Boscoโ€™s vision for the youth, we are invited to become good Christians and upright citizens, who do not live for ourselves โ€” but for others. In our classrooms, communities, and country, heroism begins with us.

Today, we honor Ninoy Aquino not only by remembering his sacrifice, but by living out his legacy. For every bosconian who chooses faith, courage, and service, Ninoyโ€™s spirit of heroism continues to shine in each and every one of us.

This past weekend, young Bosconians from the elementary department took part in Service and Leadership Training (SALT) for the school year 2025-2026, a two-day formation camp filled with fun, faith, and learning. With the theme Auctus, the camp focused on helping students take their first steps toward becoming kind and responsible leaders.

The campers listened to talks from Sir Armand Amores and Maโ€™am Mia Bognot, who shared stories and lessons about what it means to lead with heart and courage. After all the activities, the boys joined a walking rosary, quietly walking and praying together as a community. The day ended with a warm and thoughtful Goodnight Talk from Fr. Bobby, giving the campers a chance to reflect and rest with peace.

Even though the Day 2 had to be cut short due to the weather, all the planned activities continued as scheduled. The morning began with exercise and breakfast, followed by a talk from Reverend Jรณgar. Laughter and excitement filled the air during the Amazing Race, where teams worked together to solve fun challenges and support one another. Before going home, the boys celebrated Mass and watched as the SHIELD awardees and Best Team were recognized for their outstanding spirit, teamwork, and leadership.

SALT Kids 25โ€“26 may have been brief, but it gave these elementary student leaders unforgettable memories and meaningful lessons. Each camper went home a little stronger, a little braver, and a little more ready to lead in their own simple way.

A long time ago, a flock of those who wanted to write and speak the truth gathered at Don Bosco Academy Mabalacat. Throughout the arduous journey it flew through, it was unrelenting in its purpose and stayed true to its oath of unveiling what is not fabricated by lies. Recently, however, the flock became stagnant. It only did the minimum and did not soar beyond it, but like a phoenix, it will rise from the ashes and soar higher than the eye can see.

With a new age come new opportunities. The flock has aimed to regain its former self. With members now experienced in how to truly cry out, it only needs the new and the ambitious to continue and fulfill its long journey ahead. With a new event unfolding, it provides the necessary steps to achieve what it needs. After that, it is up to the flock to choose where to fly and land.

With all this, the flock will surely rise again and fly with a fiery voice and an even fierier purpose to finish what it couldn't in the past. However, how will it carry on by itself? That is where it will seek new members to aid it and help those who also wish to speak the truth. All that is left is this: are you willing to be one of those who seek, hear, and speak the truth?
