BSN 1-E (Adam) Conducts a Dengue Prevention and Awareness Campaign for Residents of Barangay Soro-soro, Maasin City!
The first-year students of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) – Section E, under the National Service Training Program (NSTP) – Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS), conducted a Dengue Prevention and Awareness Campaign at Barangay Soro-soro, Maasin City. The activity aimed to educate residents about dengue fever, including its symptoms, transmission, and effective preventive measures.
The campaign featured Noreen Ruiz Velmonte-Borres, MAN (CAR), RN, LPT, a licensed nurse and teacher with a strong background in both healthcare and education. During her talk, she emphasized both the 5S Strategy—Search and Destroy, Seek Early Consultation, Self-Protection Measures, Say Yes to Fogging, and Sustain Hydration—and the TIRS and TORS Strategy, which highlight timely intervention, reporting, and community response in preventing dengue outbreaks.
Supervised by NSTP Instructor Jonathan Biluan and monitored by General Officer Marcel Ablay, the activity was successfully carried out through the dedication of the BSN 1-E students and the strong support of Barangay Soro-soro officials. The campaign underscored the importance of unity and health awareness in fostering a safer, dengue-free community.
