Katahikan KATAHIKAN is an envi. youth group in Tinoto, Maasim, Sarangani, acting as the voice of nature.

Named after the Sama/Sinama term for โ€œthe place of the SEA,โ€ they embody the geographical, cultural, and environmental identity of their coastal community.

๐ŸŒฟ KALINISAN PARA SA KALIKASAN, PAGKAKAISA PARA SA KINABUKASAN! ๐ŸŒŠ๐ŸŒฑ

Bilang bahagi ng pagdiriwang ng Linggo ng Kabataan at Buwan ng Wika, nagsagawa ang Katahikan ng isang Community Environmental Drive na naglalayong pangalagaan, linisin, at protektahan ang ating baybayin at mangrove ecosystem.

Sa pamamagitan ng Coastal Clean-Up at Waste Declogging Activity, sama-sama nating ipinakita na ang kabataan ay may mahalagang papel sa pangangalaga ng kalikasan. Ang bawat basurang ating nakokolekta at bawat daluyan ng tubig na ating nalilinis ay hakbang tungo sa isang mas malinis, luntian, at ligtas na komunidad. ๐Ÿ’š

Thank you for your kindness and for providing much-needed relief goods to the community of Purok 5-Asnalang, Brgy. Tinoto, Maasim, Sarangani Province, which was affected by the 7.8-magnitude earthquake.

The ๐—ž๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ฎ๐—ต๐—ถ๐—ธ๐—ฎ๐—ป ๐—ฌ๐—ผ๐˜‚๐˜๐—ต ๐—ข๐—ฟ๐—ด๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ถ๐˜‡๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป ๐—ผ๐—ณ ๐—ง๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ผ๐˜๐—ผ (KYOT) actively participated in the Sarbay Coastal Cleanup Activity held in Tinoto, Maasim, Sarangani Province, showcasing the organizationโ€™s commitment to environmental protection and community service. The activity was spearheaded by the Department of Tourism (DOT) Soccsksargen Office in collaboration with the Sarangani Bay Protected Seascape, RC Metro Koronadal, Coast Guard District Southern Mindanao, PNP Maritime, the Philippine Navy, LGU Maasim- Tourism Office, BLGU of Tinoto, MENRO Maasim, Eulap, Sarbay Freedivers, Blackstone Freediving, GenSan Freediving, Visit SOX Philippines, Rotary Club of Tupi, and Marine Biology Students Society of MSU- Gensan.

The coastal cleanup brought together volunteers, local residents, and partner agencies in a collective effort to preserve and protect the coastal environment of Tinoto. Through teamwork and shared responsibility, participants successfully collected a total of 10 tons of wet waste from the shoreline and surrounding coastal areas.

The involvement of the Katahikan Youth Organization highlights the important role of the youth in promoting environmental awareness and sustainable practices within the community. Their active participation reflects a strong dedication to safeguarding marine resources and maintaining the cleanliness and beauty of Tinotoโ€™s coastal areas for future generations.

Footwear ๐Ÿ‘Ÿ: Sturdy, closed-toe shoes (sneakers or boots). No sandals or flip-flops due to sharp debris and uneven sand.

Sun Protection โ˜€๏ธ: Hat, sunglasses, and reef-safe sunscreen.

Optional Gear ๐Ÿงค: Your own thick gardening gloves or a reusable bucket (we will also provide standard supplies!).

Safety Tools ๐Ÿ”ช : A dive knife or shears (essential for safely cutting tangled fishing lines and nets)

๐Ÿคฟ Underwater Cleanup Volunteers (Scuba & Freediving)

Dive Gear ๐Ÿฆบ: Mask, snorkel, fins, BCD, regulator, and weights. (If you need rental gear, please contact us at least 48 hours in advance).

Safety Tools ๐Ÿ”ช : A dive knife or shears (essential for safely cutting tangled fishing lines and nets) and a surface marker buoy (SMB).

Mesh Bags: Mesh utility bags for collecting underwater debris will be provided, but feel free to bring your own!

๐Ÿ’ง Hydration & Snacks: A reusable water bottle filled with water and some quick snacks.

๐—ž๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ฎ๐—ต๐—ถ๐—ธ๐—ฎ๐—ป proudly joins the upcoming Coastal Clean-Up Drive & Scubasurero at Barangay Tinoto, Maasim, Sarangani Province in support of the Coastal Clean-Up Initiative spearheaded by the Department of Tourism. This meaningful activity aims to protect and preserve our coastal communities, marine biodiversity, and the natural beauty of our shorelines for future generations.

We warmly invite everyone to participate and become part of this collective effort toward a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable environment. Through simple acts of volunteerism and community cooperation, we can create a lasting positive impact on our oceans and coastal areas.

Let us come together to raise awareness about environmental responsibility and show our love for nature by taking action. Every piece of trash collected is a step closer to protecting marine life and maintaining the beauty of our beloved โ€œAlingkat, Amanis Tinotoโ€.
