Ugat Lucena is a domestic corporation duly organized and existing under and by virtue of the laws of the Republic of the Philippines under the name of THE ONE AND ONLY BONAFIDE UGAT LUCENA SINCE 1983, INC., with business address at Del Rosario St., Immaculada Conception Village, Barangay Isabang, Lucena City
UGAT LUCENA started as a people’s organization named, conceptualized and founded in Dece
mber 1982 by a group of friends composing of ATTY. ROLANDO ZABALERIO,
WILFREDO “”TANI” LADERA, MODESTO PRIETO, PATROCINIO REYNOSO, RODOLFO EDAÑO, GERMAN “GERRY” ALZATE and DOMINGA DE RAMOS-LOPINAC who are UGAT LUCENA’s founders
The founders exhaustively explored possible names of said peoples organization such as the tagalog word “BIGKIS” / “BIGKIS NG LUCENA” connoting unity until the name “UGAT LUCENA” was coined by ATTY. ROLANDO ZABALERIO during said meeting the name “UGAT” or roots transcribed in english was decided to be used as it connotes one’s ancestry added with the word “LUCENA” connoting one’s home or domicile which is Lucena City. UGAT LUCENA started as a social club who manages and administers an annual ball at Lucena City known as UGAT LUCENA GRAND RECEPTION AND BALL the purpose of which is to honor Lucena City’s patron Saint St. UGAT LUCENA later evolved into a socio-civic organization in service to its community and to humanity the purpose of which are:
To strengthen fraternal ties, foster harmonious relationship and camaraderie among Lucenahins and to participate in projects and activities that will benefit its members, dependents and the indigent residents of Lucena and other parts of Quezon Province
To maintain, promote and ensure that socio-civic services are extended to the less privileged members of the society, particularly in Quezon Province. To inculcate among its members the high sense of loyalty to each other, stimulate their intellectual advancement, develop their sense of social awareness and to hold meetings and social gatherings for the realization of such purposes. LORETA CADAVILLO GALANG the first Lady President with the founders, officers and members inaugurated UGAT LUCENA through its first ever ball at the Leon Guinto Amphitheatre now Quezon Convention Center. UGAT LUCENA then started a tradition that the President and Lady President of the people’s organization for the succeeding year will be proclaimed at midnight during the celebration of the annual ball. Today UGAT LUCENA is characterized by its grandest fundraiser the annual Grand Reception and Ball a gathering of all Lucenahins including those who have migrated to other parts of the world, friends and well-wishers.
