The Rotaract Club of Lucena South was re-chartered by Charter President Carmelo B. Sarmiento last Rotary Year 2000-01, with a theme Create Awareness-Take Action. Over the past two decades, the club produced already 4 District Rotaract Representatives namely Ronalyn Desquitado- Casido, Imelda Abarca, Roy I. But before the Rotaract Club of Lucena South was re-chartered, the club had produced its fir
st ever Past District Rotaract Representative, who is Madam Rebecca Villanueva-Labit, the sister of Past President Enrico Joaquin R. Villanueva of Rotary Club of Lucena South. Among all the PDRRs produced by Rotaract Club of Lucena South, PDRR Imelda Abarca is the first elected Pilipinas Rotaract Multi-District Information Organization Chairperson from Rotary International District 3820. Hailed as most outstanding club for 9 consecutive years, the Rotaract Club of Lucena South has created long lasting change not only for the benefit of the club but the adopted communities as well. For the last 22 years, the club had produced long term projects such as Project PAPEL, Give a Hand, Alay Lakad Pamatid Uhaw, Gift a Hand, BP MO, Sagot Ko!, etc. The Rotaract Club of Lucena South was the first club that initiated and pioneered the “Give A Hand Project,” a joint venture with its twin clubs, Rotaract Club of Banilad Metro and Rotaract Club of Carmen Valley from Visayas and Mindanao. The club claims that this is the first joint project with Memorandum of Agreement in Philippine Rotaract history. Since RY 2020-21 to RY 2022-23, the Rotaract Club of Lucena South has been consistently awarded as an Exemplary Rotaract Club among all the Rotaract Clubs in the Philippines, bagging three different distinctions (Platinum, Gold, and Silver) given by the Pilipinas Rotaract MDIO. Community service projects such as Organikong Pagtatanim Para sa Masaganang Ani and Wonder MoMilk were also awarded as most outstanding projects in community and economic development and maternal and child health. Even until now, the Rotaract Club of Lucena South has been continuously supporting the Pilipinas Rotaract MDIO in its initiated activities that realizes “One Country, One Rotaract.” In the previous years, the Club hosted different affairs together with Pilipinas Rotaract MDIO, such as Mr. and Miss Pilipinas Rotaractor People of Action; RoTalino: Battle of the Brains; Tula-y para sa Pagbangon, Hatid ng mga Rotaractor; and 5-Seconds. Despite the restrictions brought about by the pandemic, the Rotaract Club of Lucena South still rose up and joined the district in the international arena during RY 2021-22 to host the biggest gathering of Rotaractors in Asia-Pacific region, the Asia Pacific Regional Rotaract Conference. This online occasion of Rotaractors was chaired by PDRR Richard Punongbayan, along with Past President Adrian D. Domingo who served as the co-chairperson. With the goal to expand its reach, the Club also had the opportunity to have collaborated with the Asia-Pacific Rotaract MDIO by gracing one of the major events of Rotary International District 3820, which is International Rotaract Summit. This online event aimed to educate Rotaractors on how to address pressing issues in their local communities with the help of technical coordinators of the 7 areas of focus in the Rotary Foundation. In Rotary Year 2022-23, the Rotaract Club of Lucena South was one of the selected Rotaract Clubs in the District to had hosted Rotaractors from RI District 3310, Singapore. These Rotaractors were the participating leaders of the Rotaract Friendship Exchange Program, which was initiated by the International Service Committee of the RI District 3820 during the said Rotary Year. In the next coming years, the Club is looking forward to have more engagements with various communities, fellow leaders, and great mentors in different fields.
