On the night of 25th of February 2005, handful Rotarians met and declared unity of desire and dedication to serve their fellowmen which then became the foundation that created the newest Rotary Club. The Rotary Club of Lucena South assumed the role to become the sponsoring club guided by District Governor Mike Lirio who gave valuable assistance toward chartering of the new club. On the meeting at Luisa’s Restaurant on February 15, 2005, 40 people were able to attend and the decision to christen a new club named as Rotary Club of Lucena Circle was made which then Dr. James Buzar became the charter president. By March of 2005 papers were sent to Evanston, Illinois with a list of 36 proposed members and on 18th of April 2005, DG Mike Lirio forwarded an email stating that the Rotary Club of Lucena Circle has been chartered effective April 13, 2005 as Rotary Club with No. 68775.
