โ€œThe Future We Plant Togetherโ€
My poster, โ€œThe Future We Plant Togetherโ€, reflects the Earth Day 2026 theme, โ€œOur Power, Our Planet: Guided by SACLIAN Core Values,โ€ through the core value of Citizenship. Among all the core values, I chose citizenship because I believe it best represents our shared responsibility in protecting and preserving the Earth. We are not just individuals living on this planet, we are citizens of it. As citizens, we have the duty to care for our home, nurture it, and ensure that future generations will inherit a better world.
Earth Day, for me, is more than just a celebration, it is a reminder of our responsibility to become active stewards of the environment. As students of St. Anne College Lucena, guided by SACLIAN core values, we are called to embody citizenship not only in words but through meaningful actions. Our school helps us grow through education, values formation, and awareness, and it is our role to apply these teachings by helping the Earth flourish in return.
One of the central elements in my poster is the boy climbing a staircase made of books with growing seed germination on each step. This symbolizes how education shapes us into responsible and aware citizens. As we continue to learn and grow academically, we should also grow in our commitment to environmental responsibility. Like the seeds becoming trees, knowledge should inspire action, growth, and sustainability.
Another element shown in the lower part of my poster is social media, represented by students using their phones and sharing environmental advocacy online. In todayโ€™s modern world, social media is one of the strongest tools for awareness and influence. It allows students and communities to spread messages of environmental protection, inspire action, and connect people worldwide in a common purpose. Citizenship in the digital age means using our platforms responsibly, to educate, advocate, and lead by example.
The title itself, โ€œThe Future We Plant Togetherโ€, encapsulates unity and collective action. Saving the Earth is not a task for one person alone, but for an entire community working together. Through citizenship, environmental awareness, education, and advocacy, we can create a future where our planet is seen, respected, protected, and loved, not taken for granted.
Because our planet is our shared home, it deserves not only our appreciation, but also our action. Citizenship begins when we recognize that caring for the Earth means caring for ourselves and for one another.

Philippine Red Cross marks 79 years of unwavering humanitarian service

Today (April 15), the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) commemorates its 79th anniversary, celebrating nearly eight decades of steadfast commitment to humanitarian service and nation-building. Across its 102 chapters nationwide, this milestone serves as a moment to reaffirm its mission, strengthen its unified direction, and honor the enduring spirit of volunteerism that has defined the organization since its founding.

For nearly eight decades, the PRC has existed in the background of the nationโ€™s most defining moments. It is there when floodwaters rise in the middle of the night, when earthquakes reduce homes to rubble, when blood is urgently needed in hospital corridors, and when communities begin the long, uncertain process of rebuilding.

What makes the PRC distinct is not just the scale of its operations, but the culture it has quietly built: one rooted in preparedness, discipline, and above all, humanity. Its volunteersโ€”now numbering in two millionโ€”are not simply responders; they are neighbors helping neighbors, strangers becoming lifelines, ordinary Filipinos choosing, again and again, to be part of something larger than themselves.

Alongside them are the organizationโ€™s donors and partners, whose generosity and trust make it possible to sustain and expand humanitarian efforts. Every contribution, whether time, resources, or expertise, becomes part of a larger chain of hope that reaches those who need it most.

Beyond national borders, the PRC is part of a global humanitarian familyโ€”working alongside the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and the International Committee of the Red Cross, as well as other National Societies around the world. It is a reminder that while the PRC serves the Filipino people, it is also part of a broader movement bound by a shared commitment to humanity.

Under the leadership of PRC Chairman & CEO Richard Gordon and Secretary General Dr. Gwendolyn Pang, the organization has strengthened its ability to respond with speed and precision. Investments in logistics, information technology, and training have transformed the PRC into a highly capable humanitarian network: one that can mobilize quickly, reach far-flung areas, and deliver aid efficiently.

It is not just โ€œVolunteers + Logistics + Information Technology,โ€ but trust built over time, credibility earned through action, and compassion sustained across generations.

At 79, the PRCโ€™s role becomes even more vital: not just as a responder to emergencies, but as a steady presence that reassures Filipinos that they are not alone.
