Celebrate World Migratory Bird Day with Us! 🌏🐦

In celebration of World Migratory Bird Day, we are pleased to announce a new community-based initiative in partnership with the East Asian–Australasian Flyway Partnership (EAAFP): a three-month migratory bird survey along Laguna Lake, conducted once a month.

📅 Project Launch: October 10, 2026
Survey Schedule:
- October 10 – Project Launch & Survey
- November – First (or second) Saturday of the month
- December – First (or second) Saturday of the month

What is the project about?

This initiative aims to:
- Build skills and confidence in migratory bird identification and field monitoring
- Develop a local network of volunteers and citizen scientists who can support continued waterbird monitoring
- Gather baseline data on bird occurrence in relation to Laguna Lake's habitats and human activities
- Contribute to a better understanding of migratory bird use of Laguna Lake and help lay the foundation for future monitoring and conservation initiatives

Who can join?

Everyone is welcome! Whether you are an experienced birdwatcher, a bird enthusiast, interested in learning about migratory birds, or simply passionate about bird conservation, we would love to have you join us.

No previous birdwatching or survey experience is required. We will provide guidance during the activity, so this is a great opportunity to learn and gain hands-on experience in bird monitoring.

⚠️ Please note: We can accommodate a maximum of 30 participants per survey day.

Makiling BIRDay!

It’s been two years since a group of birdwatchers hiked up Mt. Makiling in hopes of finding the Luzon Bleeding-heart. Two years later, the community continues to grow, sharing the joy of birdwatching and appreciating the incredible bird diversity of the mountain.

- Wear shoes and comfortable clothes, there might be ants and insects along the trail.
- Bring umbrella in case of rain.
