The UP Sigma Delta Pi Sorority is an organization of nationalistic women committed to render selfless service to the marginalized sectors of the Philippine society. The sorority’s progressive tradition can be traced during the martial law period, where various issues such as the Vietnam War spurred heightened protest actions spearheaded by thousands of student activists and the youth. It was said

that during the 70’s our brods in UP Sigma Kappa Pi Fraternity are most active in this issues. The UP Sigma Delta Pi Sorority today genuinely involves itself to numerous campaigns concerning the welfare of the students and women. Aside from the racial and sexual discrimination, we believe that the oppression of women is class-based. Thus, we aim to integrate the plight of women to the struggles of the toiling masses, all in the pursuit of genuine empowerment and social freedom.
