In the Philippines, several breeding programs by conservation centers are also helping to prevent extinction of Philippine endemic animals such as the Philippine eagle, Philippine cockatoo, Philippine spottrd deer, Visayan warty pig, Philippine crocodile, Negros bleeding-heart pigeon, Visayan tarictic hornbill, Philippine pond turtles, Philippine eagle-owl, Waldeni's hornbill, etc.

Ten critically endangered pigeons endemic to the Philippines were turned over by Singapore-based Mandai Wildlife Group (MWG) to the Talarak Foundation – Negros Forest Park in Bacolod City on Thursday.

This marks the first repatriation of the Negros Bleeding-Heart Pigeons (Gallicolumba keayi) under the captive breeding program, which aims to ensure the survival of the species.
