The T’boli people are one of the indigenous people of South Cotabato in southern Mindanao, Philippines. In this piece, it tries to capture the reverberation of one who sings by the mountain cliff by doubling and bouncing the syllable of the text. The noisy ringing the “R” consonant expresses both the chirping of the birds as well as the stridulating crickets.

The Earth Island Institute Philippines in partnership with Nilad Metro Manila Environmental Network would like to invite all nature-loving citizens as we will lead this year’s Earth Day 2021 celebration with the theme: ‘Restore our Earth’ reflecting on-going conservation and protection initiatives not just in the National Capital Region but in the entire Philippines as well.

The two-day online event will showcase environmental organizations all over the country undertaking different environmental campaigns amidst the most challenging time of the pandemic.

It will also encourage volunteers to actively participate and support environmental advocacies from their localities.

Pablo Matinong, mayor of Sto. Niño town of South Cotabato, was shot dead today July 10 Friday morning 8 am. Witnesses saw two gunmen onboard a motorcycle shooting the mayor who was inspecting the construction of a barangay hall in Barangay Libertad.

Matinong was an advocate of organic rice farming and had opposed the coal mining operation in Lake Sebu. He was included in President Duterte's narcolist in 2016 which he had cleared, but was later red-tagged.
