𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗴𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗮𝗿 𝗯𝗲𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗲. 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝘀𝘆𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗹-𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻, 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘁 𝗮 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝗱𝗱𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗹𝘆 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲𝗱.

The 𝗨𝗣𝗟𝗕 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗿𝘀' 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆 joins the celebration of 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗗𝗮𝘆 in raising awareness about mental health issues across borders. For years, these struggles have been buried under 𝗱𝗲𝗲𝗽-𝗿𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗴𝗺𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆. Many people are forced to carry their burdens in complete silence rather than seeking professional help out of fear of judgment and discrimination. Beyond social stigma, mental healthcare in the country remains inaccessible. A 𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆-𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲, 𝗮 𝘀𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗽𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘁𝘀 turn mental healthcare into a privilege rather than a basic human right.

As scholars of science and technology, we firmly believe that 𝗺𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 is an urgent responsibility we must act on by confronting systemic barriers to ensure that no one is left to carry their struggles alone.
