The month of September is recognized as 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗦𝘂𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵, and during this time we place greater emphasis on the value of life and on mending the wounds that bleed people of hope.

As a humanitarian organization, the 𝗥𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝗨𝗣𝗟𝗕 stands with communities across the world in promoting awareness and fostering compassion, especially for people within our reach. To be a volunteer is to be present for others, to provide a sense of belonging during trying times. Yet helping begins with knowing when it is needed, even within ourselves.

In making others feel heard in their struggles, valued in their journey, and supported in their healing, we must never forget to extend the same sentiments to ourselves, especially. For the strength of our service rests on the well‑being of those who give it.

Let us continue to embody the spirit of service: listening, caring, and standing beside those who need us most. May this serve as a reminder to be easy on ourselves, and that as much as we are present for others, may we be present for ourselves and let others help.

Learning first aid should not be just for the sake of being prepared for emergencies, but also about building confidence, promoting a sense of security, and inspiring others to be ready to respond when help is needed.❤️‍🩹

This 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐀𝐢𝐝 𝐃𝐚𝐲, the 𝗥𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝗨𝗣𝗟𝗕 joins the celebration by highlighting the power of first aid not only in responding to accidents and unfortunate events, but also in empowering individuals to become a source of safety and reassurance within their communities.🩹

With this year’s theme, “𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐀𝐢𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐌𝐢𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐱𝐭", we recognize the importance of making first aid accessible to everyone, especially people on the move who may face unfamiliar environments, health risks, and limited access to immediate assistance. May this be a reminder that first aid is a universal skill that transcends borders and circumstances.⛑️🏥

Let us continue to learn and practice first aid, because being prepared is not only about knowing what to do but rather being ready to help, when it matters most.🤕

Every life matters, and every journey deserves safety. Today, September 12, 2026, the Philippine Red Cross joins the global community in celebrating World First Aid Day, led by our Safety Services in coordination with Welfare Services.

This year’s theme, “𝘍𝘐𝘙𝘚𝘛 𝘈𝘐𝘋 𝘐𝘕 𝘔𝘐𝘎𝘙𝘈𝘛𝘐𝘖𝘕 𝘊𝘖𝘕𝘛𝘌𝘟𝘛𝘚,” shines a vital light on ensuring accessible and inclusive first aid education for people on the move, displaced individuals, and our welcoming host communities. By promoting first aid as an essential life skill, we strengthen the capacity of individuals and communities everywhere to respond effectively to emergencies and provide immediate, life-saving assistance when it matters most.

Highlighting the spirit of this year's observance, Philippine Red Cross Chairman and CEO Richard J. Gordon reminds us, "First aid is more than a technical skill; it is an act of profound humanity that transcends borders and protects the most vulnerable among us." Echoing this commitment, Secretary General Dr. Gwendolyn Pang emphasizes, "By equipping people on the move and our local communities with life-saving knowledge, we build a resilient network of compassion and readiness where no one is left behind."

In solidarity with this mission, all Philippine Red Cross Chapters are mobilized to conduct impactful activities within their respective areas of responsibility. Because compassion knows no borders, and readiness saves lives.
