THESIS IT!!! 🌱 Are you a W**d Science major or specializing in W**d Science? The LM Noriel Thesis Grant may be for you!

The W**d Science Society of the Philippines (WSSP) is accepting applications for the LM Noriel Thesis Grant, which provides ₱10,000 in thesis support to qualified students from UP Los Baños (3 slots) and Visayas State University (2 slots).

You may qualify if you are:

• A Filipino citizen
• An incoming regular 4th-year BSA or BS ABT student majoring or specializing in W**d Science
• With a general weighted average of 2.50 or better during your first two years in the university
• Enrolled in the regular prescribed semestral academic load of 15 units or more
• With an approved thesis outline
• With no grades of 4.0, 5.0, or INC from previous semesters
• With no record of disciplinary action during your stay in the university

• Approved thesis outline
• Recommendation letter from your thesis adviser addressed to Mr. Jomar B. Cruz, Chair, WSSP Scholarship Committee

🧬 Scientific Session 5

The final scientific session examines the growing challenge of Herbicide Resistance, featuring presentations by Rachel Sarol, Jaycierell Fiona F. Asuncion, Ronald JR. V. Superales, Samantha Ann Bernice A. Manlutac, and Jessa Jeanne R. Buen, the WSSP Best Undergraduate Thesis Winner.

Their studies investigate crop responses to herbicides and resistance mechanisms in major w**d species, including Chinese sprangletop and barnyardgrass—providing evidence to support more effective and sustainable herbicide stewardship.

The session is moderated by John Kenneth DR. Polo, with Mirasol P. Valencia as rapporteur.

🔬 HAPPENING NOW | Scientific Session 4

Scientific Session 4 explores diverse W**d Management Technologies through presentations by Alona H. Grospe, Mary Joy M. Abit, and Dindo King M. Donayre.

The studies cover the management of knotgrass under varying soil and flooding conditions, flame w**ding in corn production, the use of Altica aenea as a potential biological control agent, and herbicide interventions for waterhyacinth management.

The session is moderated by Romalene L. Miras, with Ronald JR. V. Superales as rapporteur.
