The UPLB Society of Pre-Med Students, established on August 15, 1990, is an academic-civic organization comprised of students from UPLB, belonging to different degree courses. To serve through knowledge is our main purpose in which we give our fullest capabilities in helping out others. With this, we are not only extending meaningful service, but we are also striving to change for the better, to develop critical thinking, and most importantly, to develop a sense of leadership and camaraderie.

Do you feel it too? Blood banks remain vulnerable as they work to provide safe blood for every patient in need while ensuring that the supply will be enough. Human blood cannot be produced inside a lab. Thus, every bag transfused comes from a “yes”. A “yes” that flows from the donor's veins to the patient’s hearts, extending lives and infusing hope. 🩸

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗨𝗣𝗟𝗕 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗿𝗲-𝗠𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀, in partnership with 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻’𝘀 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 invites you to become a hero in our 𝗕𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗗𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲. Mamayang 11AM, magkita-kita tayo sa UPLB Oblation Park upang isigaw ang panawagang naglalayong buwagin, tuligasin, at kondenahin ang sistemang nagpapalaganap ng krisis na hindi maka-tao, makabansa, maka-mamamayan, and maka-mangggagawa.

Everyday, at least 2,000 bags of blood are used across the country in support for treatments and recoveries. An adequate supply means an immediate response in support of someone's life. 🔎🏥

This September, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗨𝗣𝗟𝗕 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗿𝗲-𝗠𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀, in partnership with the 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻’𝘀 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 invites you to our 𝗮𝗻𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗯𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲 and become a life saving hero. 🫂

Ngayong buwan ng Setyembre, ginugunita ang 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡 bilang pagkilala at pagpapahalaga sa bawat bata at kanilang pamilya na hinaharap ang pagsubok ng cancer.

Sa panahong ito ay binibigyang pansin din ang kahalagahan ng tunay at sapat na suporta mula sa early screening, pagpapagamot, at pananaliksik sa lunas nito.

Sa Pilipinas, ang nangungunang dahilan ng pagkamatay sa mga kabataan ay cancer. Kung kaya’t patuloy na inuudyok ang mga kaukulang pasilidad at serbisyo para sa mga kabataang lumalaban sa sakit na ito.

Kasama ang 𝐔𝐏𝐋𝐁 𝐒𝐏𝐒 sa pagkatokpagkalampag, at pagtawag para sa mas aksesisableng serbisyong pangkalusugan.

Ipinagmamalaki ng pamahalaan ang YAKAP Program, ang pagtanggal ng VAT sa gamot, ang abolisyon ng guarantee letters, ang pagpapalawak ng PhilHealth, at ang zero-balance billing bilang mga "tagumpay" sa larangan ng kalusugan.

Pero ang tanong: SINO ba talaga ang nakikinabang dito?

🔴 4,374 clinics lang ang accredited sa YAKAP (kulang pa rin sa 38,000+ barangay)
🔴 1 doktor kada 26,000 Pilipino — malayong-malayo sa standard ng WHO
🔴 Hindi kasama sa VAT exemption ang konsultasyon, laboratory tests, at iba pang gastusin
🔴 87 lang ang DOH-accredited hospitals, karamihan ay nasa NCR pa
🔴 3M lang (2.55%) ng Pilipino ang nakinabang sa zero-balance billing
🔴 1.45% lang ng GDP ang nakalaan sa kalusugan — malayo sa 5% na rekomendasyon ng WHO

Nakikiisa ang 𝐔𝐏𝐋𝐁 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐏𝐫𝐞-𝐌𝐞𝐝 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 sa paggunita ng 𝐏𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐫𝐚𝐰 𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐠𝐚 𝐁𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐧𝐢 ngayong 𝐀𝐠𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐨 𝟑𝟏, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔. Sa panahon ng kalamidad, may mga manggagawang sumusuong sa baha upang makarating sa trabaho, makapaghatid ng serbisyo, makapagligtas ng buhay, at matugunan o akuin ang responsibilidad na gampanin dapat ng gobyerno. 𝑾𝒂𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒈 𝒎𝒐𝒏𝒖𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒐, 𝒘𝒂𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒈 𝒔𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒎𝒐𝒏𝒚𝒂, 𝒂𝒕 𝒎𝒂𝒅𝒂𝒍𝒂𝒔 𝒂𝒚 𝒘𝒂𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒈 𝒑𝒂𝒈𝒌𝒊𝒍𝒂𝒍𝒂. Sa bawat araw na pinipili nilang magpatuloy, dala nila ang bayan sa kanilang mga balikat.

Tunay na ang kanilang pagtitiis at sakripisyo ay kabayanihan na siyang dapat kilalanin. Ngunit ang mga bayaning ito ay 𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢 𝐝𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐭 𝐧𝐚𝐠-𝐢𝐢𝐬𝐚. Hindi dapat kailanganin ng isang Pilipino na isugal ang kanyang kaligtasan upang makapagtrabaho. Hindi dapat gawing normal ang resiliency ng pagsulong sa baha, gutom, panganib, at kawalan ng proteksyon.

Sa bawat Pilipinong nagsisilbi sa kabila ng panganib, kasabay na nanawagan ang UPLB SPS para sa isang gobyernong sasalo, poprotekta, at kikilos para sa kanilang kaligtasan at kapakanan. Sapagkat ang pagkilala sa kanilang kabayanihan ay hindi lamang nasa palakpak at papuri, ito ay nasa konkretong pagkilos upang sila rin ay mapangalagaan.
