We are pleased to announce the 𝗦𝗰𝗼𝗽𝘂𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗪𝗲𝗯 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝘅𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗮𝗽𝗲𝗿 of the LSPU-Los Baños Campus - College of Criminal Justice Education entitled "Teaching and learning style preferences of Bachelor of Science in Criminology students in a state-funded university."

𝐀𝐁𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐂𝐓: The main objective of this study was to determine the learning and teaching style preferences of the Bachelor of Science or BS Criminology students using the descriptive-quantitative, comparative, and cross-sectional research design. The respondents of the study were the 271 BS criminology students during the second semester, academic year 2020-2021. The study utilized the self-constructed questionnaire as data gathering tool. Based on the analysis of the findings, it was concluded that most of the respondents moderately preferred the all-cited learning and teaching style preferences considered in the investigation. The analysis of respondents’ preferred learning and teaching styles when grouped according to their profile provided valuable insights into the variations and significance of these preferences across different demographic groups. By recognizing and adapting to these demographic differences, educators can create inclusive and effective learning environments that cater to the specific needs and preferences of students, ultimately enhancing their learning experiences and outcomes. To enhance the educational experience in the College of Criminal Justice Education, it is recommended to implement age-appropriate instructional strategies and create inclusive, gender-sensitive learning environments. This research can also be useful as a valuable resource to guide the future researches and contribute to the existing knowledge in the field.

On October 24, 2025, the Bachelor of Science in Criminology - 4A students of Laguna State Polytechnic University - Los Baños Campus, College of Criminal Justice Education, led by Team Leader Angeline M. Lorico and her groupmates, successfully conducted an extension activity seminar titled “𝑨𝒍𝒂𝒎𝒊𝒏 𝒂𝒏𝒈 𝑲𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒑𝒂𝒕𝒂𝒏, 𝑳𝒂𝒃𝒂𝒏𝒂𝒏 𝒂𝒏𝒈 𝑪𝒚𝒃𝒆𝒓𝒄𝒓𝒊𝒎𝒆: 𝑨𝒏𝒈 𝒎𝒈𝒂 𝑷𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒂𝒏𝒊𝒃 𝒏𝒂 𝑫𝒂𝒍𝒂 𝒏𝒈 𝑶𝒏𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒆 𝑳𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑨𝒑𝒑𝒔.”

This insightful event featured 𝙈𝙨. 𝙍𝙤𝙨𝙚 𝘼𝙣𝙣 𝙈𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙮, 𝙈𝙎𝘾𝙅, a Professor from the College of Criminal Justice Education - Los Baños Campus, who served as the resource speaker.

Held at Barangay Lawa, Calamba City, Laguna, the seminar aimed to raise public awareness about the dangers of unregulated online lending applications and their impact on data privacy and financial security.

The discussion highlighted how these apps may exploit personal data, impose excessive interest rates, and engage in unlawful collection practices. Participants also gained practical knowledge on identifying legitimate financial services, protecting personal information, and reporting cybercrimes to the proper authorities.

This program marked a meaningful step in promoting digital literacy and responsible online behavior within the community - empowering participants to become more vigilant and informed users in today’s technology-driven world.

The College of Criminal Justice Education also extends its heartfelt gratitude to the residents and officials of Barangay Lawa, Calamba City, for their warm welcome, active participation, and unwavering support in making this seminar a successful and impactful event.
