​In his welcome remarks during the 4-day FARM Module Development Workshop held last Sept. 1–4, 2026, PAKISAMA President Randy Cirio highlighted the vital role and contribution of farmers in promoting eco-friendly farming practices. He noted that farmers are also a rich source of knowledge and innovation who can serve as trainers to their fellow farmers.

​He also emphasized that through the FARM Project, technical knowledge and actual field experience are brought together to better support and uplift the lives of family farmers.

​The said workshop aimed to review and refine training modules in collaboration with technical and farmer experts to develop appropriate materials for the upcoming Training of Trainers (TOT) rollout.

​This initiative is part of the FARM Project under Component 3: Capacity and Knowledge Dissemination, implemented by AFA in partnership with PAKISAMA.

𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐄𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐍𝐎𝐖: 𝐅𝐀𝐑𝐌 𝐌𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐥𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩

The Asian Farmers' Association for Rural Development (AFA), together with its partner, the Pakisama (Pambansang Kilusan ng mga Samahang Magsasaka), is holding a four-day FARM Module Development Workshop at the Ugnayan Hall, Partnership Center, Quezon City, Philippines.

FARM Philippines representatives are participating in the workshop, joining a diversified group of experts in reviewing and enhancing the draft training modules on integrated/alternative pest management and biopesticides for rice, corn, onion, cabbage, calamansi, and banana. The participating experts help ensure that the modules are grounded with technical knowledge, scientific standards, extension approaches, and practical field experiences.

The reviewed and finalized modules will be used for the conduct of Training of Trainers and Farmers’ Training. The workshop will run until September 4, 2026.

This activity is part of the engagement between FARM Philippines and AFA on the training initiatives under Component 3: Capacity and Knowledge Dissemination of the UNIDO-implemented project, “Promoting Eco-Friendly Crop Protection Solutions for Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) and Highly Hazardous Pesticides (HHPs) Reduction in Asia.”

FARM Philippines, DOST PCAARRD, PARRFI, and selected project stakeholders welcome Dr. Nee Sun Choong Kwet Yive, or “Dr. Robert,” UNIDO - United Nations Industrial Development Organization’s Independent Midterm Evaluator, as he commences the mission for the project’s midterm evaluation. Also present is Dr. Yash Pal Ramdev, UNIDO’s National Technical Adviser.

The visit began with a project presentation and levelling-off meeting, as well as a visit to the PARRFI office for discussions on project finance and administration.

This afternoon, Dr. Robert will conduct stakeholder conversations with key project partners, including representatives from the Ad Hoc Technical Working Group (TWG), IMPACT R&D, and Haltec Crop Labs, Inc. These discussions aim to gather insights on project implementation, accomplishments, challenges, and recommendations to support the project's continued improvement and successful implementation.

The midterm evaluation mission will run until 20 August 2026.

FARM Philippines, in collaboration with the Local Government of San Fabian (Pio San Fabian Pangasinan), will co-organize the Regional Knowledge Transfer Workshop and Stakeholder Engagement on August 18-19, 2026, in San Fabian, Pangasinan.

On the first day, The Regional Knowledge Transfer Workshop will serve as a knowledge-sharing and capacity-building activity designed to strengthen the technical competencies of local experts. The workshop aims to equip participants with the knowledge and practical skills needed to train and support farmers in the production and use of low-cost neem-based biopesticides.

The workshop will feature 𝗗𝗿. 𝗬𝗮𝘀𝗵 𝗣𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗮𝗺𝗱𝗲𝘃, UNIDO Technical Adviser, who will deliver a lecture on neem-based biopesticide and conduct a hands-on demonstration on the harvesting, formulation, production, and field application. A tree-planting ceremony will be also conducted.

Around 17 local experts are expected to participate. The workshop will also provide a platform for participants to exchange experiences indigenous knowledge and local technologies on biopesticides, fostering collaboration among researchers, extension workers, and practitioners.

On the second day, in partnership with the San Fabian Organic Farmers & Fisherfolk Association, Inc. (SOFFAI), the project will conduct a Stakeholder Engagement Activity. The event aims to raise awareness of the farmers on integrated pest management (IPM) principles, available financing opportunities to support the adoption of environmentally friendly crop protection technologies, and the community-based enterprise model for the sustainable production and distribution of neem-based biopesticides. In the afternoon, the local experts who participated in the first day's Regional Knowledge Transfer Workshop and were trained by Dr. Ramdev will conduct a demonstration for farmers on the formulation, production, and proper application of low-cost neem-based biopesticides.

𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐄𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐍𝐎𝐖: 𝟑𝐫𝐝 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐞 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠

The FARM Philippines Project is currently holding its 3rd National Project Steering Committee (PSC) Meeting in Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines.

The project team is presenting its quarterly accomplishments, ongoing initiatives, and upcoming milestones, to the PSC. The meeting also serves as a venue for strategic discussions to ensure the project remains on track toward achieving its objectives.

The PSC is chaired by the Executive Director of the Department of Science and Technology- Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources Research and Development (DOST PCAARRD) and is composed of representatives from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Department of Agriculture - Bureau of Agriculture and Fisheries Standards (BAFS), the Philippine Chamber of Agriculture and Food, Inc. (PCAFI), and the Department of Agriculture - Fertilizer and Pesticide Authority (DA-FPA). As the project's advisory body, the committee provides strategic guidance, strengthens inter-agency coordination, and validates key project directions and deliverables.

Joining the meeting are members of the Project Management Unit (PMU) and Technical Working Group (TWG) of FARM Philippines.

The previous PSC Meeting was held on March 31, 2026, while the 4th National PSC Meeting is scheduled for November 12, 2026.
