𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐨 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 🌏🌅

With the conclusion of the recent community exposure, the students of AERS 154 not only engaged with the 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗮𝗱𝗷𝗮𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 but also gained a deeper understanding of the 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆. 👥

To learn beyond the classroom truly is our mandate as youth community organizers. And for the class of AERS 154, 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱. 📢✨

The AERS 154 class held a learning session entitled “Conversation with a Community Organizer” on April 22, 2026. The session aimed to enhance students’ understanding of community organizing and prepare them for their community exposure activity.

Mr. Pedro Santos Jr., the Organizational Development Officer of Magsasaka at Siyentipiko para sa Pag-unlad ng Agrikultura (MASIPAG), discussed how their organization conducts community organizing activities. He shared innovative yet practical and community-centered strategies grounded in their actual experiences.

Connecting his insights to the course topics, Mr. Santos emphasized that digital technologies have opened new approaches to community organizing, citing their experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, he stressed that, beyond maximizing the benefits of emerging tools and theories, the ultimate goal is still genuine immersion in communities toward people-centered development.

In his parting message, Mr. Santos emphasized the importance of listening to and learning from the people. This nugget of wisdom resonates with the community-based participatory approaches adopted by the AERS 154 class.

Kasabay ng daluyong ng dagat sa lungsod ng Lucena, mararamdaman din ang sigla ng pamumuhay dito. Makikita ang iba't ibang selebrasyon, suliranin, at mga ipinaglalaban — ngunit iisa ang kultura at kasaysayang pinanghahawakan.

Ngayong Abril, ang klase ng AERS 154 ay magsasagawa ng isang community exposure upang mas maunawaan ang tunay na karanasan ng ating mga magbubukid at mamamalakaya. Kasabay rin nito ay ang pagpapatalas pa ng kaalaman sa usapin ng community organizing at ipagdiwang ang esensya nito. 🧑‍🧒‍🧒
