It is but a one-night event to share ideas and celebrate stories told through shortfilms. The Sky Is Everywhere Film Get-Together takes place each July in the lovely quaint town of Lipa City, Batangas. A BRIEF HISTORY
The idea came about in 2011 with only the intention of screening a few number of films made by a group of friends residing in Lipa City. There came about the theme “The Sky is Everyw
here : Yesterday is over”. It was held at a local coffee shop in Lipa City, The Shop Around The Corner (SATC). With no budget and funding but with such willing friends and supporters, the first ever Sky Is Everywhere event came to be. There were about 23 shortfilms from about 20 local filmmakers. In 2012, the second edition of the event followed with the theme “The Sky Is Everywhere 2 : ‘Wag ka muna matulog, tayo muna umibig”. The event took place at the Museo De Lipa and showcased about 22 shortfilms by 20 local filmmakers, students and film enthusiasts. Still with no working budget and support funding from sponsors, the event went on to be a huge success with an audience of about 300 people (students, professionals and film enthusiasts) clearly doubling the attendance of the past year’s event.
2013 brought “The Sky Is Everywhere 3 : The Memory Is Fleeting”, marks the first time the event opened for film entries outside of Batangas, about 20 shortfilms from 19 filmmakers were screened at Intensity Fusion Bar in Lipa City. Probably the most diverse batch and the most successful, SIE 3 attracted an audience of about 500. This year also marked the first time the event had a few support from local sponsors. With this year’s theme “The Sky Is Everywhere 4 : I is the Loneliest Letter”, the film get-together is again welcoming the challenge of showcasing the best films from fresh filmmakers in and out of the province and to provide a new and better film experience for its audience.
