On this day, we remember Saint Jaime Hilario Barbal who, until his last breath, remained faithful to Jesus Christ by refusing to deny his religious identity during his trial to save his life, famously stating, "To die for Christ, my young friends, is to live".
โ But he said to me, โMy grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.โ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.โ
โ 2 Corinthians 12:9โ10
May the life lived by St. Jaime Hilario inspires us to trust God more than anything, likewise reminding us that divine grace is sufficient for everyone, and God's power is most evident when individuals acknowledge their human limitations and weakness instead of solely depending on their own strength.
