As we conclude our celebration of National Literature Month, we feature a significant addition to the #𝐁𝐮𝐤𝐋𝐚𝐭: 𝐁𝐮𝐤𝐥𝐚𝐭 𝐀𝐤𝐥𝐚𝐭 𝐬𝐚 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬.

Philippine literature is truly complete only when it includes our rich folk wisdom, most notably preserved through our proverbs. Volume VI of the 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐅𝐨𝐥𝐤 𝐋𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 series offers a comprehensive compilation of these "terse didactic statements." Handed down through generations, these proverbs continue to serve as timeless guides for conduct and profound reflections on our shared experiences.

𝐂𝐏𝐒 𝐊𝐢𝐜𝐤 𝐎𝐟𝐟 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 𝐋𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐅𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧

The Provincial Government of Pangasinan (PGP), through the Center for Pangasinan Studies (CPS) and in partnership with the Universidad de Dagupan (UDD), successfully hosted the inaugural session of the 2026 Lecture Series. The event was conducted virtually via Zoom and Facebook Live.

This year’s first lecture featured 𝐃𝐫. 𝐅𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐡 𝐊𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢 𝐂. 𝐖𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐤, 𝐃𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝐒𝐭. 𝐋𝐨𝐮𝐢𝐬 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐁𝐚𝐠𝐮𝐢𝐨 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲. She delivered an insightful presentation titled “Artificial Intelligence in Education, Research, and Extension,” exploring the transformative power of AI and how it is reshaping the way we approach academic work and community service.

The webinar saw high engagement, reaching a peak of over 400 participants from across the province and over 4,000 Facebook reach. Attendees included representatives, students, and faculty members from the 11 CPS-Member Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), as well as various other stakeholders.

During the program, a special message from Governor Ramon V. Guico III was read by Atty. Kandace Loraine Palagud. The Governor’s message highlighted the importance of embracing AI as a vital tool to enhance teaching, research, and extension services, while also emphasizing the necessity of maintaining ethical standards and academic integrity in the digital age.

The Center for Pangasinan Studies remains grateful for the continued support of the Provincial Government under the visionary leadership of Governor Guico III.

It is our hope that this forum has enlightened both our educational leaders and learners, providing the inspiration and knowledge needed to navigate the role of Artificial Intelligence in our professional and daily lives.

This is a friendly reminder that the Center for Pangasinan Studies (CPS) Lecture Series is scheduled for tomorrow. The session will be accessible via Zoom and will also be broadcast live on Facebook. We encourage you to ensure your internet connection is stable so you can actively engage in the discussions throughout the webinar.

The event is open to everyone interested. Regarding the Certificate of Participation, the center will provide printed certificates for those from member-HEIs. All other attendees will receive e-certificates following the event.

To receive your certificate, please remain present for the entire duration of the program. You will also need to complete the evaluation form that will be shared at the conclusion of the lecture.

Following the directives of Pangasinan Governor Ramon V. Guico III and in alignment with Executive Order No. 110 issued by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., which declares a State of National Energy Emergency to ensure the stability of fuel and energy supplies amid global disruptions, the Center for Pangasinan Studies (CPS) announces an adjustment in the conduct of the first installment of the 2026 Lecture Series, shifting from a face-to-face modality to an online format.

The lecture will be conducted via Zoom and broadcast live on the CPS page, in partnership with the Universidad de Dagupan.

For this month’s book feature, we’re looking at a work by F. Sionil José. He is a National Artist for Literature who proudly hails from Pangasinan. The book is titled “Puppy Love and Thirteen Short Stories.”

The story follows a boy named Jacobo Salcedo. He grows up in a poor family in a small town and becomes best friends with Lito Garcia, whose family owns a lot of land.

As they grow up, Jacobo develops a crush on Lito’s younger sister, Gina. Even though they come from very different backgrounds, the story shows their sweet childhood friendship, from playing together to practicing traditional dances at school. In just a snap, everything changed, but not the feelings they felt when they were just kids. It’s a simple yet moving story about young love and the reality of growing up in different social circles.
