EMPOWERING WOMEN THROUGH FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE IN LEGAZPI CITY

On March 14, 2026, the "Babae at Pananalapi: Hakbang Tungo sa Matatag na Kinabukasan" event brought together women from the community at Bagacay Covered Court in Legazpi City for a day of learning and growth.

Kicking off with registration by BU’s Social Work Department field immersion students and an opening program led by Project Leader Mary Anne L. Ansano, participants dived into two core sessions. The morning focused on budgeting and smart money management, where attendees not only learned key strategies but also worked on practical outputs in a hands-on workshop. After a lunch break, Prof Ansano of CBEM shared insights on debt management and responsible borrowing, followed by another interactive workshop to apply what was learned.

The day wrapped up with a synthesis of key points from Prof. Ansano, reinforcing the goal of building financial resilience for women – because when women are financially secure, they pave the way for stronger families and communities.

"ATING KALIKASAN, ATING PANGALAGAAN!"

Bicol University's KUGOS Program brings environmental awareness to the young minds of our community! Led by Kugos Kinaban Project Leader Prof. Amabella A. De Luna and Program Leader Prof. Karen B. Lladones, last March 13, together with Social Work Department field immersion students, the team spearheaded a fun, engaging initiative to teach kids how precious our natural resources are – and how we can all be guardians of our planet.

Every child holds the key to a greener future! 💚

CELEBRATING WOMEN’S MONTH IN BARANGAY BAGACAY!

What a meaningful day as we came together to honor the strength, resilience, and contributions of every woman in our community!

Our Women’s Month Celebration, a joint initiative of the Barangay Bagacay Council, Bicol University Social Work and Sociology Department, and the BU KUGOS Program.

We were privileged to learn from our esteemed speakers:
📚 Prof. Karen Lladones who shared the rich History and Significance of International Women’s Day
🎤 Prof. Tania Añonuevo who sparked insightful conversations on “Kababaihan sa Makabagong Panahon” (Women in the Modern Era)

The energy was high with our lively Zumba session with Instructor Jessa—because women’s wellness matters too! We also distributed hygiene kits, clothing, and food to support our fellow women in their daily lives.

To all the women here: You are powerful, valued, and cherished. Thank you for making our community brighter! 🙌

HELP TYPHOON UWAN VICTIMS IN PANDAN, CATANDUANES

Typhoon Uwan has left families in Pandan displaced, without shelter, food, or clean water. Homes have been destroyed, crops washed away, and communities are in desperate need of support to pick up the pieces.

We’re calling on everyone to stand with our kababayans in Catanduanes. Every donation – big or small – will make a huge difference in providing essential supplies like rice, canned goods, water, blankets, and hygiene kits.

TWO BIG WINS FOR PAMPLONA, CAMARINES SUR – YESTERDAY, NOVEMBER 24, 2025!

History was made as LGU Pamplona and Bicol University signed a landmark MOA for BU KUGOS: KUGOS for Sustainable Communities – Harmonizing Efforts through Extension, Community Engagement, and Learning Services – plus we unveiled the official outputs from our stakeholder’s consultation held last September 8, 2025 in Pamplona! 🤝✨

A massive thank you to all stakeholders who joined the September consultation and LGU officials who worked tirelessly to make this collaboration possible. Here’s to building a brighter, more sustainable future – together!
