𝐋𝐨𝐨𝐤: 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐝 𝐂𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬 𝐀𝐥𝐛𝐚𝐲-𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐳𝐩𝐢 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫 successfully held the 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐀𝐢𝐝 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 (𝐒𝐅𝐀𝐓) for volunteers and staff last 𝐌𝐚𝐲 𝟏𝟐–𝟏𝟓, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔.

The participants refreshed their knowledge in handling emergencies. They are now ready and more confident to provide aid and rescue those in need.

PRC JOINS IFRC, ICRC, AND 191 NATIONAL SOCIETIES IN CELEBRATING WORLD RED CROSS AND RED CRESCENT DAY 2026

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) joins the global celebration of World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day on May 8, 2026, marking 79 years of nonstop commitment to helping communities worldwide alongside the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), and 191 Red Cross and Red Crescent National Societies.

The international observance follows the theme “United in Humanity,” meant to celebrate the volunteers and staff whose support and compassion toward communities shine amidst crises and emergencies around the world.

The day also serves as a call to uphold and protect humanitarian work, ensuring timely support is given to those most in need.

“The Philippine Red Cross volunteers are the backbone of the entire organization. Without their help, it would be nearly impossible to expand our reach and services in the farthest regions of the country. This day is meant to celebrate not only them, but also the millions of Red Cross and Red Crescent volunteers worldwide who continue to serve humanity,” said PRC Chairman and CEO Richard J. Gordon.

The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement grew from an idea by Jean Henry Dunant in 1859 after witnessing the suffering brought by the Battle of Solferino in Italy.

Today, the Movement is composed of the ICRC, the IFRC, and 191 National Societies working together as the world’s largest humanitarian network.

“The Philippine Red Cross will always look up to the ICRC, IFRC, and our fellow National Societies, and celebrate their humanitarian achievements across the world. Rest assured, the organization will continue strengthening its services in the country while remaining united with the global Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement in serving those most in need,” PRC Secretary General Dr. Gwendolyn Pang stated.

The PRC commits its adherence to this year’s theme and ensures its application in the various humanitarian services it offers nationwide.

Philippine Red Cross marks 79 years of unwavering humanitarian service

Today (April 15), the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) commemorates its 79th anniversary, celebrating nearly eight decades of steadfast commitment to humanitarian service and nation-building. Across its 102 chapters nationwide, this milestone serves as a moment to reaffirm its mission, strengthen its unified direction, and honor the enduring spirit of volunteerism that has defined the organization since its founding.

For nearly eight decades, the PRC has existed in the background of the nation’s most defining moments. It is there when floodwaters rise in the middle of the night, when earthquakes reduce homes to rubble, when blood is urgently needed in hospital corridors, and when communities begin the long, uncertain process of rebuilding.

What makes the PRC distinct is not just the scale of its operations, but the culture it has quietly built: one rooted in preparedness, discipline, and above all, humanity. Its volunteers—now numbering in two million—are not simply responders; they are neighbors helping neighbors, strangers becoming lifelines, ordinary Filipinos choosing, again and again, to be part of something larger than themselves.

Alongside them are the organization’s donors and partners, whose generosity and trust make it possible to sustain and expand humanitarian efforts. Every contribution, whether time, resources, or expertise, becomes part of a larger chain of hope that reaches those who need it most.

Beyond national borders, the PRC is part of a global humanitarian family—working alongside the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and the International Committee of the Red Cross, as well as other National Societies around the world. It is a reminder that while the PRC serves the Filipino people, it is also part of a broader movement bound by a shared commitment to humanity.

Under the leadership of PRC Chairman & CEO Richard Gordon and Secretary General Dr. Gwendolyn Pang, the organization has strengthened its ability to respond with speed and precision. Investments in logistics, information technology, and training have transformed the PRC into a highly capable humanitarian network: one that can mobilize quickly, reach far-flung areas, and deliver aid efficiently.

𝑷𝒂𝒘𝒂 𝑴𝒂𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒐 with the Barangay DRR Committee of Manito project areas. The Project areas includes 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐠𝐚𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐨 𝐀𝐥𝐛𝐚𝐲, 𝐂𝐚𝐰𝐢𝐭, 𝐈𝐭-𝐁𝐚, 𝐓𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐠𝐨 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐨 𝐀𝐥𝐛𝐚𝐲.

The event ended with a synthesis of significant learnings, marking a significant step forward in the barangay's commitment to proactive and systematic disaster management.

Mainit kanina, tapos biglang umulan? 🤔☀️🌧️

Tuwing Marso, karaniwang nakakaranas ang Pilipinas ng dalawang weather systems.

Ang Northeast Monsoon o Amihan ay nagdadala ng malamig at tuyong hangin mula sa hilagang bahagi ng Asya. Samantala, ang Easterlies naman ay nagdadala ng maiinit at mamasa-masang hangin mula sa Pacific Ocean, lalo na sa silangang bahagi ng bansa.

Kapag nag-iipon ang init sa maghapon at humahalo sa halumigmig na dala ng easterlies, maaari itong magdulot ng mabilis na pagbuo ng ulap na nagreresulta sa biglaang pag-ulan o pagkulog at pagkidlat sa hapon.

Kaya naman posibleng napakainit sa tanghali, pero biglang uulan pagdating ng hapon sa maraming lugar sa bansa, tulad ng naranasan natin ngayon.

Kaya paalala mula sa PRC, magdala ng payong at maging updated sa tamang weather advisories. Ingat po, mga kababayan! ☂️
