Advancing Criminal Justice Education through Regional Identity, Global Standards, and Digital Transformation.

The 2026 CJE Teaching Excellence Forum convenes Criminology Deans, Program Chairs, and academic leaders across Region V in alignment with CHED’s curriculum reform agenda, national development priorities, and global education frameworks.

This year’s forum highlights:

🔹 Integration of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 4 – Quality Education, SDG 16 – Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals)
🔹 AI integration and emerging technologies in Criminal Justice Education
🔹 Curriculum alignment responsive to national security and justice-sector needs
🔹 Launch of Bicol 101 – a region-based innovation embedding local governance, culture, and justice realities into academic programs

Aligned with CHED Goals on quality assurance, internationalization, and digital transformation, this forum strengthens the role of Criminal Justice Education in achieving the Philippines’ national goals of institutional integrity, public safety, and sustainable development.

Council of Deans for Criminal Justice Education | Special Board Meeting

The Council of Deans successfully held its
Special Board Meeting on January 23, 2026, at Proxy by The Oriental Hotel, Albay, through the dynamic leadership of the Council President Dr. Shirlene S. Esplana.

The meeting focused on key agenda items, including the corporate planning of the board and the preparations for the upcoming 24th Inter-CJE Olympics, ensuring a well-coordinated and meaningful event for all participating institutions.

The council also took the opportunity to recognize and express its heartfelt gratitude to the outgoing CHED Supervisor for Criminal Justice Education, Dr. Mike Mallari, for his invaluable service, leadership, and dedication to the advancement of criminal justice education.

At the same time, the board warmly welcomed the newly assigned CHED Supervisor for Criminal Justice Education, Dr. Geronimo Buenavente, expressing full support and optimism for continued collaboration and progress under his guidance.

A productive and forward-looking meeting that aims to strengthens unity and shared commitment among Criminal Justice Education institutions in Bicol Region. 🤝✨
