The City Government of Legazpi, through the Legazpi City Youth Development Office, officially opens the nominations for the inaugural 𝗜𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝗴𝗮𝘇𝗽𝗶 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀.

Inspired by the enduring values of the Ibalong Epic and guided by this year's theme, the Awards celebrate young Legazpeños whose actions, leadership, and commitment continue to make a positive difference in their communities. More than a recognition program, the Ibalong Youth Awards seeks to inspire excellence, encourage active citizenship, honor outstanding achievements, and establish a lasting tradition of recognizing those who embody the very best of Legazpi's youth.

Inspired by the heroes of the Ibalong Epic, the Awards are conferred under three distinguished Orders that embody the enduring values of courage, leadership, and service: the 𝗢𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗕𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗼𝗴 for courage and enterprise, the 𝗢𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗛𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗴 for leadership and community transformation, and the 𝗢𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗴 for service and solidarity.

Beyond the awards under the three Orders, the Ibalong Youth Awards also confers its Highest Distinctions: the 𝗛𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗼𝗻, 𝗦𝗶𝗱𝗹𝗮𝗸, and 𝗔𝗹𝗱𝗮𝘄 Awards. Reserved for exceptional contributions to youth development, these distinctions are bestowed through the deliberation of the Awards Committee upon individuals and organizations whose impact reflects the highest ideals of courage, leadership, and service.

Nominations are open to the public beginning today until July 27, 2026, at 8:00 PM. Nomination forms and supporting documents must be submitted to the Legazpi City Youth Development Office thru email. ʟʏᴅᴄ ᴜᴘᴅᴀᴛᴇ | 𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐳𝐩𝐢 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐥 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐬 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠

The Legazpi City Youth Development Council (LYDC) convened for its Second Quarter 2026 Regular Meeting on June 30, 2026 at the SP Annex Conference Room. The meeting gathered council members to discuss key initiatives and priorities that will further strengthen youth development efforts in the city.

Among the agenda items were the presentation of the Council’s First Quarter 2026 Accomplishment Report, deliberation on proposed policies for the Council’s consideration, discussions on the LYDC’s role as a member of the City Inventory Team for the Sangguniang Kabataan Transition, and the initial planning for the 2026 Linggo ng Kabataan celebration. Prospective council members also joined the meeting as observers to gain a better understanding of the Council’s functions and processes.

The meeting reinforced the importance of collaboration and participatory governance in advancing youth-responsive policies and programs. It also highlighted the Council’s commitment to ensuring continuity in youth leadership while preparing meaningful initiatives for the city’s young people.

The Legazpi City Youth Development Office, as the council’s secretariat, extends its appreciation to all LYDC members and prospective council members for their active participation and valuable insights during the meeting.

𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐳𝐩𝐢 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐋𝐘𝐃𝐏 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔–𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟖 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐀𝐝𝐨𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐝

The Legazpi City Local Youth Development Plan (LYDP) 2026–2028 has been officially adopted and approved by the 17th Sangguniang Panlungsod of the City of Legazpi through Resolution No. 17-0130-2026.

This milestone marks the culmination of a series of consultations and collaborative efforts led by the City Youth Development Office, in close coordination with the Local Youth Development Council and SK Federation of Legazpi, and with the review and endorsement of the City Development Council. The process ensured that the plan reflects the needs, priorities, and aspirations of the Legazpeño youth.

With its approval, the LYDP 2026–2028 now serves as the official guiding document of the City Government in implementing programs, projects, and activities that are responsive to the needs of the city’s young people. It is further endorsed for integration into the city's Comprehensive Development Plan, Local Development Investment Program, and the Annual Investment Program.

The City Youth Development Office expresses its sincere appreciation to the esteemed members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod, headed by Vice Mayor Luis Felipe L. Gutierrez, and to City Mayor Hisham B. Ismail for their support and approval of this important policy milestone.

The CYDO remains committed to advancing strategic, inclusive, and youth-responsive initiatives that empower the youth and strengthen their role in local development. Together, we continue to build a more enabling and youth-centered Legazpi City. 💙

"What started as a small chance became a life-changing path." — John Cayman Dungog, Founder, Brew Box Coffee & USAID Opportunity 2.0 Participant, Philippines

John was an out-of-school youth in the Philippines when he joined our workforce development program with USAID. He described recently the opportunity as feeling like a "0.2 chance" but he took it anyway.

With the support he received, John planned carefully and launched a motorcycle coffee cart with just a few thousands in Philippine Pesos in capital. Today, his business, Brew Box Coffee, employs 17 people including staff, managers, a marketing team, and a board of directors, and generates millions in annual revenue.

But John doesn't measure success only in numbers. In his own words recently from a letter to our staff: "Your support did not just help me — it helped create jobs and opportunities for others in our community." This is the ripple effect of investing in young people.
