Guide for PEF Scholarship and Loan Applicants

The Perpetual Education Fund (PEF) program offers a financial assistance package consisting of:
• 25% Scholarship
• 75% Loan with zero interest

This program is designed to help eligible students achieve their educational goals while maintaining affordability and financial responsibility.

Eligible Expenses

The following expenses are covered upon approval:
• Tuition Fees and Miscellaneous Fees
• Books and Supplies
• Boarding House Rental OR Transportation Costs
• Licensure Exam Review Fees
• Computer & Equipment (if applicable and approved)

PEF Approved Courses

Eligibility Requirements:
• Freshmen must enroll in a State University, Community College, or Private University.

Approved Degree Programs:
• Information Technology (and related fields like Computer Science and Data Science)
• Nursing
• Business Administration
• Banking, Finance, and Economics
• Accountancy
• Education

Other Degree Programs:
• Students in the last two years of their bachelor’s degree program (incoming 3rd or 4th-year students) are eligible, whether enrolled in a state or private university.
• Other courses may also be approved on a case-by-case basis, except for:
• Dentistry
• Medicine
• Advanced degrees (Master’s and PhD programs)

Tech-Vocational (TechVoc) Courses:

Programs lasting under 36 months are eligible, such as:
• Driving
• Culinary Arts
• CCTV Installation
• Freelance Virtual Assistance (FVA)
• Hair and Make-Up (HMU)
• Machinist Training
• Baking
• Certificate Courses in other specialized fields

Steps and Requirements for Application

Step 1: Create a PEF Account
• Go to pef.churchofjesuschrist.org and create an account.
• If your school or program is not listed, click “Request School or Program” and fill out the necessary details.
• Ensure you provide complete information about your chosen school or program.

Step 2: Submit School Information for Approval
• Once your school details are entered, PEF will review them.
• If vendor setup is required, PEF will contact you with further instructions.

Step 3: Complete the “Education for Better Work” Course
• Enroll in and complete the Education for Better Work Self-Reliance Course.
• Upload the completion certificate and the Applied Self-Reliance (ASR) Certificate to your PEF portal account.

Step 4: Obtain Priesthood Endorsement
• Request an endorsement from your Bishop through the LCR system.
• Upload the signed endorsement to your PEF portal application.

Step 5: Obtain Facilitator’s Signature
• Have your Facilitator sign the Completion Certificate in the PEF-SR system.

Step 6: Approval Process
• Approval depends on:
• The school’s cooperation in submitting vendor setup forms.
• Submission of all necessary requirements.
• The application will then undergo review and approval by the WSR Manager, Area Leaders, and HQ.

Step 7: Request for Disbursement
• Once approved, submit a disbursement request.
• Wait for the PEF Specialist to schedule a briefing on disbursement, repayment, and other matters.

Step 8: Additional Assistance
• For questions or guidance, contact your WSR Manager or PEF Education Specialist.
