𝐇𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐋𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓𝐒 | 𝐁𝐘𝐓𝐄𝐂𝐀𝐌𝐏 𝐕𝐈: 𝐏𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐒 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐑𝐓 🎮👾

With new knowledge, useful tools, and a little more confidence to take on what’s ahead, the 𝗕𝗦 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗵𝗺𝗲𝗻 have officially completed 𝗕𝘆𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗽 𝗩𝗜: 𝗣𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗦 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗥𝗧 on 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟮𝟬, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, at the 𝗕𝗨𝗖𝗘𝗡𝗚 𝗙𝗜𝗖𝗖 𝗔𝗺𝗽𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿.

The program started with the opening remarks of 𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗻 𝗚. 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗳𝗶𝗹, the founder of the Bytecamp series and former Internal Vice Chairperson of BU CircUITS. As the person who started Bytecamp, he welcomed the freshies and shared a few words to officially kick off this year’s seminar.

The first session was led by 𝗘𝗮𝗿𝗹 𝗔𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗔. 𝗗𝗮𝘀𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗮 and 𝗥𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗦. 𝗣𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗼, sophomore BSIT students, who introduced the freshmen to the essential software and applications they’ll be using during their first year. The session also included a guided installation of different tools, giving everyone a chance to set up their devices before classes officially begin.

The second session was facilitated by 𝗝𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗘𝗿𝗼𝗵 𝗝. 𝗡𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗱𝗼, a sophomore BSIT student and the External Vice Chairperson of BU CircUITS. He introduced additional software and applications that can help students throughout their stay in the program. He also delivered the closing remarks, ending the seminar with an encouraging message for the incoming BSIT freshmen.

More than just installing software, Bytecamp VI gave our freshies a chance to get familiar with the tools they’ll be using, meet fellow IT students, and start their BSIT journey on the right foot. With everything set up and ready to go, they’re now one step closer to taking on their first year in Information Technology.

— 𝗕𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗼 “𝗡𝗶𝗻𝗼𝘆” 𝗔𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗻𝗼 𝗝𝗿.

Every 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟮𝟭, we 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙚𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙉𝙞𝙣𝙤𝙮 𝘼𝙦𝙪𝙞𝙣𝙤 𝘿𝙖𝙮 in remembrance of former Senator 𝘽𝙚𝙣𝙞𝙜𝙣𝙤 “𝙉𝙞𝙣𝙤𝙮” 𝘼𝙦𝙪𝙞𝙣𝙤 𝙅𝙧., whose courage and sacrifice became an important part of Philippine history.

Ninoy Aquino was one of the prominent critics of the Marcos administration. When Martial Law was declared in 1972, he was arrested and imprisoned. Even during his years in detention, he continued to speak for democracy and stand against authoritarian rule.

After spending several years abroad, he returned to the Philippines on 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟮𝟭, 𝟭𝟵𝟴𝟯. He was assassinated shortly after arriving at what was then Manila International Airport, which was later renamed Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in his honor. His death brought more attention to the growing opposition against the Marcos regime and became one of the events that eventually led to the 𝟭𝟵𝟴𝟲 𝗣𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.

This year marks the 𝟰𝟯𝗿𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝗿𝘆 of his assassination. His story reminds us that having the courage to stand up for what we believe in can leave a lasting impact on our country.

May we, as an 𝗜𝗧 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀, continue to value our freedom and use our knowledge, voices, and skills responsibly. May we have the courage to stand for what we believe is right and carry with us the importance of courage, integrity, and love for our country.

Kicking off the program with the opening remarks is 𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗻 𝗚. 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗳𝗶𝗹, the founder of the Bytecamp and former Internal Vice Chairperson of BU CircUITS. As the person who started the Bytecamp series, his presence today makes the opening of its sixth installment even more meaningful. What began as an initiative has grown into a program that continues to help incoming IT students take their first steps into the field.

Throughout the seminar, our freshies are getting hands-on with essential software, digital platforms, and tools that they’ll be using throughout their BSIT journey. From setting up Visual Studio Code and their development environments to exploring technologies they’ll encounter in their future coursework, today is all about helping them get familiar with the tools they need and giving them a head start before the real challenges begin.

It’s only the beginning, but every 𝗜𝗧 𝗷𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆 has to start somewhere. For our freshies, this is 𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝟭. 💻👾

We spend all summer bragging about our laptop specs, 💻 only to spend the entire first lab session sweating because we're still stuck on the installation progress bar. ⏳

Many incoming freshmen assume that basic computer literacy is enough to navigate their introductory IT courses. But entering a tech discipline without establishing foundational technical readiness is a special kind of trap. ⚠️ When the lesson starts moving fast, wrestling with installation configuration errors is the last thing you want to worry about. 🚀

Staying ahead in your courses means getting your technical tools sorted before the semester even starts. 🛠️ When your software is configured early, you skip the setup frustration completely and jump straight into learning. Technical preparation gets the installation noise out of the way so you can focus purely on solving problems. Academic survival comes down to preparation. Showing up is easy, but showing up with an optimized workspace is what keeps you ahead. 🛠️✨

But what’s really happening is that VS Code is just a highly customizable environment. To actually make your code run, you need to arm it with a 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗿 (𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗚𝗖𝗖/𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗚𝗪) and link it properly via your system's Environment Variables. Without this configuration, your machine is just reading plain text, not executing actual software logic.

So you see, hitting an error on your very first day isn't a sign that you aren't meant for IT — it's just a missing development environment configuration. 💡 Next time, focus on installing your tool extensions and compilers properly before rushing to build your first program.
