As the Rotary Club of Las Piñas Central (RCLPC) gathers to celebrate its 𝟑𝟕𝙩𝙝 𝙁𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘼𝙣𝙣𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙖𝙧𝙮, the air is filled with more than just festivity, it is thick with the legacy of leadership that has defined this institution since its inception. This milestone serves as a bridge, connecting the steadfast pioneers of the past with the vibrant leaders of the present and the visionary torchbearers Honoring Our Past Presidents

Thirty-seven years ago, a group of dedicated individuals came together with a shared vision of "Service Above Self." The "Legacy of Leadership" within RCLPC is not just a title; it is a catalog of impact. From our Charter President, Past Presidents to the most recent Immediate Past President, each leader has left an indelible mark on the community.

These past presidents steered the club through evolving social landscapes, establishing signature projects like the scholarship programs and disaster assistance initiatives that remain club cornerstones today. We stand on the shoulders of these giants, whose dedication ensured that RCLPC became a beacon of hope in Las Piñas.

The current leadership with UGP Anthony Reyes continue this momentum with a focus on tangible, community-driven results.

Looking ahead, the President-elect Nior Enriquez Chan, the incoming PN Andrew Ross Solivet and PND Jamery Derecho are already preparing to carry the mantle into the 2026-2027 Rotary year. The focus remains clear: continuity and evolution.

As the club transitions into its 38th year, the future leadership is poised to embrace the theme of "Creating Lasting Impact." Plans are already in motion to expand digital outreach and modernize community service logistics, ensuring that the RCLPC/Rotary Club of Las Piñas Central remains relevant in an increasingly fast-paced world. The goal is to build upon the 37-year foundation, ensuring that the "Heart, Service, and Community" celebrated today continues to beat strongly for decades to come.

On the evening of April 22, 2026, the Rotary Club of Las Piñas Central (RCLPC) gathered to celebrate a momentous milestone: its 37th Founding Anniversary. Hosted at the iconic Cecile’s Restaurant, a venue synonymous with Filipino heritage and local tradition, the event was a powerful testament to nearly four decades of humanitarian impact and unbreakable fellowship.

Founded on April 25, 1989, RCLPC/Rotary Club of Las Piñas Central began as a visionary collective with a simple yet profound mission: to put Service Above Self. From those humble beginnings, the club has evolved into one of the leaders of civic action within the city.

Over the past 37 years, the club has remained a steadfast partner in progress, consistently launching initiatives that align with Rotary International’s seven areas of focus.

The atmosphere at Cecile’s was one of profound nostalgia. Long-standing members shared stories of the early days, while newer Rotarians looked on with inspiration. The evening served as a bridge between a proud past and a promising future.

Thirty-seven years ago, a group of visionaries planted a seed of hope in the heart of this city. Today, that seed has grown into a towering tree of service, providing shade and support to those who need it most.

The celebration was more than a look back; it was a call to action. As the night drew to a close, members departed with more than just awards and photographs. They left with a renewed spark, a commitment to continue being the light in the corners of the community that need it most.

As the Rotary Club of Las Piñas Central enters its 38th year, it stands as a living reminder that when dedicated individuals unite under a common cause, no challenge is too great, and no dream is too bold.

𝗜𝗻 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗥𝗼𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗙𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗼 "𝗡𝗶𝗻𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗚𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗼" 𝗢𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼

In the words of Mother Teresa of Calcutta, "𝙉𝙤𝙩 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙤𝙛 𝙪𝙨 𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙙𝙤 𝙜𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨. 𝘽𝙪𝙩 𝙬𝙚 𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙙𝙤 𝙨𝙢𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙜𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩 𝙡𝙤𝙫𝙚." Recently, the Rotary Club of Las Piñas Central (RCLPC) lived out this truth, proving that the most powerful "𝙎𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙞𝙘𝙚 𝘼𝙗𝙤𝙫𝙚 𝙎𝙚𝙡𝙛" often happens in the quiet moments of brotherhood and shared struggle.

When a fellow Rotarian fell ill, the club did not see a "case" or a "project"—they saw a brother. Members visited him, not out of obligation, but out of a desire to fulfill what Mother Teresa called the greatest hunger: the hunger to be loved, known, and remembered. These visits weren't just social calls; they were the Corporal Works of Mercy in action, providing the presence that is often more healing than medicine.

Recognizing that true compassion requires action, the club organized an internal fund drive. We gathered PHP 26,000—a gift given in the spirit of Mother Teresa’s reminder that "𝙄𝙛 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙘𝙖𝙣'𝙩 𝙛𝙚𝙚𝙙 𝙖 𝙝𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙧𝙚𝙙 𝙥𝙚𝙤𝙥𝙡𝙚, 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙛𝙚𝙚𝙙 𝙤𝙣𝙚." It wasn't about the total amount of money but it was about the collective heartbeat of a community refusing to let one of their own suffer in isolation.

Mother Teresa often said, "I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples." What happened next was the ripple that no one expected.

Upon receiving the donation, our ailing brother did not just hold onto his blessing. Even from a place of physical weakness and financial need, he reached out to those who had even less. He took PHP 6,000 of the gift to purchase several sacks of rice, repacking it into 5-kilogram bags for local tricycle drivers.

"𝙎𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙢𝙮 𝙗𝙡𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨 𝙨𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙄 𝙢𝙖𝙮 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙡," he said.

In this moment, he embodied the Saint of Calcutta’s most challenging teaching: "Give until it hurts." Despite his own pain and his own bills, he found a way to become a channel of grace for 20 local tricycle drivers. He understood that the best way to thank God for a blessing is to become a blessing for someone else.

This story is a humble reminder that in RCLPC/Rotary Club of Las Piñas Central, we are not just a club; we are a family. We have learned that true giving is not about what we have left over, but what we are willing to share from our own need.

Healing often begins the moment we look away from our own suffering to ease the burden of another.

As we look at this circle of generosity—from the club to a brother, and from a brother to the community—we see the fulfillment of a simple, holy truth: "It's not how much we give but how much love we put into giving. In Rotary Club of Las Piñas Central, no one walks alone, because we have learned to see the face of a brother in every person we meet.

In a landscape where the price of fuel dictates the weight of a Filipino family's pockets, the journey to a classroom has become a grueling endurance test. For many students in rural communities, the path to a diploma is paved with dusty miles and the exhaustion of a two-hour trek before the first bell even rings. But on March 2, 2026, at Kaysuyo National High School in Alfonso, Cavite, a simple bicycle offered a profound answer to a complex economic crisis.

The Bisekleta Para sa Pangarap (Bicycle for Dreams) project now in its third year, is not just a feel-good charity event. It is a targeted intervention against the rising tide of inflation. As jeepney fares climb and oil price hikes shrink already meager allowances, the cost of "getting there" has become a barrier to "becoming someone."

When we give a student a bicycle, we aren't just giving them a ride; we are giving them time and energy; the two most precious currencies for a learner. A student who isn't exhausted from a five-kilometer walk is a student who can actually focus on academics. A family that doesn't have to set aside daily fare money is a family that can put better food on the table.

What elevates this initiative is the seamless collaboration between the RCLPC/Rotary Club of Las Piñas Central and the 𝗥𝗼𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝗯 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗲𝗼𝘀𝗮𝗻 𝗕𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗲 from 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗞𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗮. In an era where global news is often dominated by division, seeing Korean partners travel across the ocean to hand-deliver bicycles in a Philippine remote public school is a masterclass in international solidarity.
It proves a vital point: Service has no zip code. The challenges of poverty and education are universal, and the solutions are most effective when they are born from collective action rather than isolated effort.

We often look to the government for massive infrastructure projects or high-tech digital pivots to solve our educational woes. While those are necessary, Bisekleta Para sa Pangarap reminds us that the most effective solutions are often the simplest.

A bicycle is sustainable, it is cost-free to operate, and it provides a sense of dignity and independence that a crowded commute never could.

These aren't just frames of steel and rubber tires; they are, quite literally,"𝘿𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙢 𝙈𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨." Each turn of the wheel is a fight against the cycle of poverty. Each kilometer pedaled is a victory over the economic circumstances that try to keep these children at a standstill.

As we navigate these uncertain economic times, let this project serve as a blueprint. If we want our youth to reach their destinations in life, we must first ensure they have the means to reach the school gate. Sometimes, all it takes to change a life is two wheels and the collective will to keep them spinning.

The RCLPC/Rotary Club of Las Piñas Central continues to exemplify the spirit of "𝙎𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙞𝙘𝙚 𝘼𝙗𝙤𝙫𝙚 𝙎𝙚𝙡𝙛" through a powerful new collaboration with the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Alumni Association. In a recent fundraising initiative, both organizations joined forces to champion two critical causes: providing educational scholarships for marginalized youth and delivering urgent assistance to disaster-stricken communities.

The project was spearheaded by our very own Past President Emelito Malabanan and his wife, Malu Malabanan. As proud Thomasian alumni, the Malabanans served as the bridge between the two institutions, translating their shared values of compassion and community service into a tangible lifeline for those in need.

For RCLPC, this partnership aligns perfectly with Rotary’s global areas of focus, particularly in Basic Education and Literacy. The fundraiser aims to:

Empower the Youth: Fund scholarships for bright but underprivileged students, ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder their academic journey.

Strengthen Communities: Establish a dedicated fund for rapid-response relief and rehabilitation for areas hit by natural calamities—a mission more vital than ever given our country’s climate vulnerability.

The event saw a strong showing of support from the Rotary Club of Las Piñas Central. Several members were in attendance to represent the club, standing in solidarity with the UST Alumni Association to ensure the project’s success. Their presence underscored RCLPC’s commitment to collaborative social responsibility and the power of networking for a greater good.

On September 20, RCLPC/Rotary Club of Las Piñas Central actively participated in the International Coastal Cleanup, a globally recognized environmental initiative aimed at reducing marine debris and promoting ecological sustainability. The event was held in collaboration with several local organizations, demonstrating a strong spirit of community and shared responsibility for environmental stewardship.

RCLPC volunteers worked alongside partner groups to collect and properly dispose of waste materials from designated coastal areas. The initiative not only contributed to the cleanliness and preservation of local shorelines but also raised awareness about the long-term impact of pollution on marine ecosystems.

This effort reflects RCLPC’s ongoing commitment to environmental responsibility and its dedication to fostering partnerships that support sustainable development within the community.
