Thank you for your dedication, patience, and unwavering support for Book Nook Larena. Thank you for showing up, sharing your talents, telling stories with passion, and making every Saturday and every activity special for our children. Your willingness to serve and your genuine love for what you do have helped make Book Nook a place where children can discover the joy of reading, unleash their creativity, and create beautiful memories.

This achievement would not be as meaningful without each one of you. You are more than storytellers, you are partners in nurturing young minds and inspiring the next generation. Every story you tell leaves a little spark in a child's heart, and that is a gift worth celebrating. 🥹♥️

Since 2021, the National Book Development Board's The Book Nook Project has also been a force for good in bringing hundreds of Filipino-published books to over 130 communities across the Philippines.

These books have been used for various DepEd programs such as, "Catch Up Fridays," "ARAL Program," and "Brigada Eskwela." This is in addition to various storytelling sessions, writing workshops, community outreach activities, and literacy interventions held inside and outside of Book Nook sites.

We at the Book Nook Larena congratulate DepEd and EDCOM II on the country's strongest PISA performance since 2018. May we continue to work together in creating a culture of reading in the Philippines one book at a time. It truly takes a village.

Congratulations to DepEd Philippines and EDCOM 2 - The Second Congressional Commission on Education on the country's strongest PISA performance since 2018!

To Secretary Sonny Angara, whose department carried the reforms through to the classroom. To EDCOM 2 Executive Director Karol Mark Yee, whose commission kept the evidence in front of policymakers and named the gaps plainly. And to Undersecretary Fatima Panontongan, who has been NBDB's steady counterpart at DepEd and who has argued, here and abroad, that education recovery takes structural work rather than short campaigns.

NBDB has been glad to work alongside them. Since 2023, the Philippine Book Festival has served as DepEd's venue for scoping Supplementary Learning Resources, putting Filipino-published titles in front of the people who choose what reaches public school libraries.

The PISA 2025 results belong to the learners and teachers who earned them. We are grateful to have been part of the effort.

Ito ang aming :

Eto ang activity na nilolook forward ng mga bata pagdating ng sabado, kung saan ang aming storyteller volunteers ay magstorytelling at pagkatapos mag art activities na kagaya ng flower making gamit ang fuzzy wires at ang ibang naggagantsilyo sa pamumuno ng ating custodian na si Ms Mariel. At kahit sa weekdays may mga bata pa din na nagpapaturo kung panu mag gantsilyo, flower making at ang ibang bata nagdadraw lang kung anong gusto nilang gawin sa loob ng aming book nook.

Samahan kami sa isang paglalakbay tungo sa pagiging BOOKod Tangi! Ang BOOKod Tangi: The Book Nook Project Online Assembly ay gaganapin sa 13-14, 20-21 ng Agusto 2026.

Another Day here at Book Nook

Thank you to all the kids and visitors who came today to read books, draw, make crafts, and enjoy learning together. Seeing their smiles and creativity makes our hearts happy. ❤️

📚✨ A Day Full of Learning and Fun at The Book Nook! ✨🎨

Our hearts are full seeing the kids enjoying their time at the Book Nook! 💛 From flipping pages of their favorite books 📖 to exploring their creativity, every moment is truly meaningful.

After reading, they were guided by our very own custodian in making colorful bracelets 🌈 and learning the basics of crochet 🧶. It’s amazing to see them discover new skills while having so much fun.

To make the day even more special, we were joined by a police officer from the Larena Police Station 👮‍♂️ who shared an important talk about anti-bullying—reminding everyone to be respectful, kind, and supportive of one another. 💙

Indeed, it was a day filled with learning, creativity, and values formation. Thank you to everyone who continues to support our Book Nook and inspire our young readers and creators. 💖

Author of the Super Maya PH children’s book series, Bambi Rodriguez, visited The Book Nook Larena Siquijor for a special reading session that brought together young readers and local storytellers.

The visit continued in Brgy. Taculing, where Rodriguez led a storytelling activity with children from the community. Participants listened, interacted, and immersed themselves in the stories, highlighting the role of such initiatives in encouraging reading and creativity among the youth.

Volunteers Pia Mourie Diaz, Kristine Mae Maghinay, and Larkym Maglinte also assisted in engaging the children and ensuring the session ran smoothly.

We also extend our thanks to the barangay officials of Taculing, led by Barangay Captain Hon. Vicky Manos, for their assistance and support in the activity.

The activity reflects ongoing efforts to promote literacy and community engagement through accessible storytelling spaces.

Another proud moment for The Book Nook Larena Siquijor!

Today, we received a Plaque of Recognition from the National Book Development Board - Philippines for the commitment and the heart we’ve poured into making the BookNook a welcoming space for every reader in our community.

The award was personally handed over by Daniel Lorenzo Mariano, OIC Division Chief of the Readership Development Division, Charmaine Capuchino, Co-Lead of the Publishers and Creatives Engagement Committee, Bethel Delatado, Community Development Officer and Ein Gil Camunas, Media Production Specialist.

The award was received by Cindy Bonachita - Eraham, Larena BookNook Area Coordinator, together with Mariel Ann Anggay, BookNook Custodian, in the presence of Mayor Cyrus Vincent Calibo, SB Members Hon. Rockshell F. Camero and Hon. Honey Grace M. Samson, and SKMF President Johannes Christian Duazo.Our deepest thanks to our dedicated volunteers today, especially Pia Mourie Diaz and Larkym Maglinte, whose endless efforts help keep the BookNook alive and meaningful every single day.

More than the plaque, this is a reminder that every book shared, every child reached, and every story told brings us closer to a community that reads, grows, and dreams together.

Congratulations, Larena!

The Municipality of Larena headed by Mayor Cyrus Vincent Calibo is now proudly among the select municipal libraries nationwide officially affiliated with the National Library of the Philippines (NLP). Through this partnership, the municipality received a total of P 1 million-worth of books, encyclopedias, a globe, world maps, LEGO toys, a computer set and other educational resources.

Moreover, this affiliation opens greater opportunities for the community improving access to knowledge, supporting students in their studies, promoting a culture of reading, and providing a safe, enriching space for learning and discovery for all ages.

Our OIC Municipal Librarian/Book Nook Area Coordinator Cindy Bonachita Eraham, together with Municipal Library/Book Nook staff Mariel Anne Anggay, attended the Orientation and Initial Allocation of the NLP’s newly affiliated public libraries today, March 24, 2026.
