Congratulations, Larena!

The Municipality of Larena headed by Mayor Cyrus Vincent Calibo is now proudly among the select municipal libraries nationwide officially affiliated with the National Library of the Philippines (NLP). Through this partnership, the municipality received a total of P 1 million-worth of books, encyclopedias, a globe, world maps, LEGO toys, a computer set and other educational resources.

Moreover, this affiliation opens greater opportunities for the community improving access to knowledge, supporting students in their studies, promoting a culture of reading, and providing a safe, enriching space for learning and discovery for all ages.

Our OIC Municipal Librarian/Book Nook Area Coordinator Cindy Bonachita Eraham, together with Municipal Library/Book Nook staff Mariel Anne Anggay, attended the Orientation and Initial Allocation of the NLP’s newly affiliated public libraries today, March 24, 2026.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the SK Chairman of Barangay Taculing for the invitation to conduct a storytelling session for the daycare pupils in their barangay.

This initiative aims to promote early literacy, creativity, and a love for reading among young learners through engaging and meaningful storytelling activities. We are honored to be part of this meaningful effort in nurturing the minds and imagination of the children in the community.

We would also like to express our heartfelt gratitude to our dedicated storyteller, Ms. Pia, for generously sharing her time, talent, and passion for storytelling. Your commitment to inspiring young learners truly makes a difference.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve and bring the joy of reading to the children of Barangay Taculing.

We continue to provide a safe and child-friendly environment where young visitors can freely express their creativity. Recently, several children spent time drawing and creating art using crayons and drawing materials provided by Book Nook.

Art materials such as fuzzy wires, crayons, and drawing books are made available to encourage children to explore their creativity and engage in meaningful activities beyond reading. Interested children may simply approach our staff to avail of the materials.

Children and students are welcome to visit Book Nook during their school break time, providing them with a productive and enriching space to read, draw, and create.

We invite more children and families in the community to visit Book Nook and take part in our educational and creative activities. Book Nook remains committed to supporting learning, creativity, and child development in the community.

When we say Aklat Para sa Lahat, we mean it.

Yesterday, January 29, NBDB Executive Director Charisse Aquino-Tugade met with Chief Administrative Officer Marie Grace Gomez, Administrative Officer Nikkie Boie Pino, and The Book Nook Project National Program Coordinator Carlo Ebeo to discuss something crucial: how to deepen employee engagement with the communities our Book Nooks serve.

Since 2021, The Book Nook Project has established over 130 reading spaces containing Philippine-published booksβ€”spaces that reach far-flung regions and even overseas, with Book Nooks now open in South Korea and the United States. For many partner communities, these reading spaces provide the first real opportunity to access books in local languages, books that reflect young readers' stories and worldviews, books that say: this narrative is yours, too.

This year, as we continue expanding Book Nooks nationwide, we're also working with our Human Resources team to create pathways for more NBDB staff to engage directly with partner communities. We want our team to see and experience firsthand how these reading spaces are sustained, how they function, and what they mean to the people who use them. Because understanding happens through presence, not distance.

Stay tuned for updates on what's ahead for The Book Nook Project.

Our Book Nook applications remain open until March 2, 2026. If you know a community that would benefit from a reading space filled with Filipino literature, visit https://bit.ly/BN26Application and help us connect more young readers with stories that belong to them.

We are filled with joy, stories, and the spirit of Christmas as we held our storytelling session and simple Christmas celebration with the children. β™₯οΈπŸŽ„

Moments like these remind us of the importance of creating a safe and nurturing space where stories inspire, imagination grows, and young hearts feel valued.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Kuya Jones for his generosity in providing the prizes for our parlor games, which added joy and excitement to the celebration. 🎁

Most importantly, we offer our heartfelt thanks to all our storytellers volunteers who have faithfully shared their precious time and passion every Saturday throughout this year. Your dedication has made Booknook a place of learning, warmth, and wonder for our children.β™₯️β™₯️

We also express our deepest gratitude to the children who actively participate in our Istoryang Handycraft sessions every Saturday. Your enthusiasm, creativity, and love for stories give life to our advocacy. We would also like to thank the parents and guardians who continue to trust and support Booknook by allowing their children to be part of our mission to nurture a love for reading, creativity, and learning.

As we close this meaningful year, we wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. May the season bring peace, hope, and continued inspiration to all. πŸŽ„βœ¨
