SENTRO Press Release
13 August 2026
THE COURT HAS NO BUSINESS STOPPING WORKERS FROM RECEIVING A WAGE INCREASE
The Sentro ng mga Nagkakaisa at Progresibong Manggagawa (SENTRO) condemns the Pasig Regional Trial Court’s decision to grant a preliminary injunction against Wage Order No. 27.
“The court has no business stopping workers from receiving a wage increase,” Josua Mata, SENTRO Secretary General, said.
₱60 was never enough. It is nowhere near enough to recover what workers have lost to inflation and rising prices.
₱60 na nga lamang, ipinagkait pa?
For workers struggling to make ends meet, ₱60 still matters. It can mean food on the table, transportation to work, or part of the electricity bill.
The court has set an extraordinary ₱10-billion bond as a condition for the injunction. But whether that bond is ₱10 billion, ₱1 billion, or something else misses the point.
“For corporations, a bond is an expense. For workers, withholding even ₱60 is another blow to their dignity,” Mata said.
No amount of money should make it acceptable to take away a wage increase from workers who are already struggling to survive.
And that is why the injunction itself must be lifted.
SENTRO will continue to fight for what workers really deserve: real wage recovery and living wages—not crumbs, and certainly not less than what they have already been granted.
Lift the injunction. Let workers get paid.
