A Historic Celebration of Love and Ability! 👑✨
"True beauty lies in a heart full of hope."

Last February 14, the Brgy. Pajo Multipurpose Gym became a stage for courage and inclusion as we celebrated the first-ever Mr. & Ms. PWD Valentine 2026. Under the moving theme “Love Knows No Boundaries in Form or Ability,” we proved that the spirit of a person is never defined by limitations.

The Highlights of the Day:

Moving Opening: The event began with a solemn Invocation and the Lapu-Lapu Hymn, led by the Deaf Association of Lapu-Lapu City.

A Message of Courage: Our Federation President Teresita Signe Tes Tañan reminded us that this pageant wasn't just about the crown, but about showing the community the bravery it takes to face life's challenges and true beauty lies in a heart full of hope. Brgy. Captain Lyndon Guba of Pajo followed with an inspiring message of support.

Showcasing Talent: From an energetic production number to soulful singing in the talent portion, our candidates proved that their abilities are truly amazing.

Grace and Elegance: The candidates captivated everyone during the formal wear segment, showing off their graceful walks in stunning dresses and suits.

The Grand Coronation: Amidst raffle draws and minor titles, history was made with our first-ever winners:

🏆 Mr. PWD Valentine 2026: Aladin Abano (Brgy. Caubian)

👑 Ms. PWD Valentine 2026: Ma. Nina Bensi (Brgy. Calawisan)

Our Heartfelt Gratitude:
A successful event of this scale is the result of many hands working together.

Our deepest thanks to City Mayor Cindi King Chan and Cong. Junard "Ahong" Chan, through CSWDO-OIC Maria Sheila Baylosis, for their unwavering support.

A special "thank you" to ALIVE Lapu-Lapu City, led by LGBTQIA+ Focal Miss Adah, for taking care of the candidates' every need—from the flawless production to the beautiful makeup.

Lastly, we thank all the Brgy. Persons With Disabilities Associations, our Barangay Captains, and the family and supporters who cheered for our candidates. Your love is what made this day unforgettable!

Success! The Lapu-Lapu City Federation of Persons With Disabilities Inc. (L-LCFPWDI) successfully conducted "Beyond The Basics: Essential Bookkeeping and Cash Flow Strategies for Brgy. Persons With Disabilities Association."

The event's main goal was to equip the Barangay Persons With Disabilities Association (BPWDA) Treasurers with the essential skills to properly handle and record their association's finances—a key step in empowering their BPWDA.

A huge thanks to our amazing team:
Mrs. Josephine Lerin, Federation Treasurer, for sharing her knowledge as our speaker.
Ms. Teresita Signe, for expertly arranging the event.
Mr. Bon Rio Lazaga, for facilitating.
Mr. Christopher Amomonpon, PDAO Head, for his assistance.

And, of course, a big thank you to all the BPWDA Treasurers for dedicating their time!
This initiative is part of the Federation's ongoing program to empower Persons With Disabilities Associations in every Barangay in Lapu-Lapu City. This is just the beginning—we're preparing more! 😊

✨ Yesterday, September 10, 2025, was a monumental day for us! ✨

We are proud to share the success of our “Disability Awareness and Sensitivity Training Workshop for Child Development Workers and Teachers” held at Ibo Gym, Lapu-Lapu City! 🏫💙

This workshop is part of our Project ABCD (Abilities Beyond Child’s Disabilities): Building an Inclusive Community for ALL Children, proudly initiated by the Lapu-Lapu City Federation of Persons With Disabilities Inc. in collaboration with the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) and the Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO).

💡 Project ABCD follows a four-phase approach:
1️⃣ Mobilizing Leaders and Advocates – Raising awareness and creating a unified advocacy plan with PWD leaders and advocates.
2️⃣ Empowering Educators – Equipping Child Development Workers and Teachers with the skills to build inclusive classrooms. (This is the phase we successfully completed yesterday!)
3️⃣ Engaging the Children – Teaching children about diversity, empathy, and respect through fun, age-appropriate activities.
4️⃣ Partnering with Parents and the Community – Strengthening a community-wide support system that nurtures inclusion both at home and in public.

This initiative directly supports the Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) System Act (Republic Act No. 12199), which highlights the importance of inclusive early intervention during a child’s formative years. Through Project ABCD, we are turning this vision into a reality for our community. 🌍✨

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who made this workshop a success. Our thanks go to Mr. Leoni Mario Potot, CDW Focal, for facilitating the venue and other necessities; Mrs. Ma. Sheila C. Baylosis, OIC - CSWDO, for her unwavering support for the sector; and Mr. Christopher Amomonpon Jr., Head of PDAO, for providing the vehicle and other assistance from his office. We also thank Ms. Teresita T. Signe, Federation President, for leading the workshop; Mr. Bon Rio M. Lazaga, Federation Secretary, for introducing Project ABCD; Mr. Michael Lanida for his insightful presentation on guiding a blind person; and the officers of the Federation for helping to facilitate the event. Finally, a special thank you to the Child Development Workers and Teachers. The attendance of over 100 people was truly overwhelming and inspiring. Thank you so much for your support!

🙌 We look forward to continuing this project and moving forward to the next phases. Together, we are building a truly inclusive Lapu-Lapu City where no child is left behind! 💙🌈

Celebrating Resilience & Inclusion: A Look Back at Lapu-Lapu's 47th National Disability Rights Week!

What an incredible week it's been in Lapu-Lapu City! Despite a few unexpected challenges from the weather, our 47th National Disability Rights Week (July 16-23, 2025) kicked off with resounding success and continued with moments of unity and triumph!

Day 1: A Grand Kick-Off (July 16)
The celebration began with a vibrant Caravan, seeing almost all 30 barangays proudly joining in! After the caravan, our community gathered for a heartfelt Mass inside Hoops Dome. The morning program then followed, graced by inspiring messages from our very own Mayor Cindy Chan and Congressman Junard "Ahong" Chan.

The afternoon brought exhilarating energy as we formally opened the City Paralympics 2025! The lighting of the torch symbolized the start of friendly competition, with Deaf Basketball kicking off the games.

Day 2: Overcoming Obstacles Together (July 17)

Day 2 presented its own set of challenges! The elimination rounds for Sitting Volleyball and Badminton began, but persistent rain unfortunately entered the Pajo Gym venue, causing a delay. Yet, true to the spirit of "Building Inclusive Communities Together," everyone showed incredible unity and bayanihan! Participants and organizers alike joined hands to map the water out of the gym, allowing the games to finally begin at 12:30 PM. This moment truly highlighted the power of working together!

Day 3: Exploring Inclusion Beyond Our City (July 18)

Our celebration extended beyond Lapu-Lapu! Barangay Persons with Disability leaders attended the 47th NDR Week Celebration at SM Seaside. It was a day of community and fun, featuring a lively fun walk inside the mall, a sitting Zumba session, and inspiring performances from talented Persons with Disabilities.

Day 4: Victories & Vital Support (July 19)

The competitions continued with thrilling Chess matches, followed by the highly anticipated finals for Sitting Volleyball and Badminton!

Meanwhile, a significant event unfolded at the City Hall: the PDAO Accessible Vehicle Turnover and Blessing Ceremony! Barangay presidents and officials witnessed this crucial moment, joined by Mayor Cindy Chan, celebrating a new step towards improved mobility and accessibility for our Persons With Disabilities community.

Later that afternoon, the week's efforts culminated in a meaningful Awarding Ceremony at 1:00 PM. Barangay officials from various areas, along with the OIC of CSWDO and their team, gathered to honor the participants and champions of the week.

A Week of Unforgettable Success!
Despite the weather's best attempts, the 47th National Disability Rights Week 2025 was a resounding success! It was a testament to the resilience, unity, and unwavering spirit of our Persons With Disabilities community and all those who support them here in Lapu-Lapu City.

Mabuhi ang Lapu-Lapu!
Mabuhi ang Persons With Disabilities!

Hangtud sa sunod tuig!
