The STARS Officers officially kicked off their first Capacity Training for Academic Year 2026โ2027, hosted by STARS President Rojan Dagwayan - Padilla, as they gear up for another year of service, leadership, and yesโlots of paperwork.
For their first session, officers went hands-on with essential digital and administrative skills: basic Canva design, Google Forms creation, email signatures, and email scheduling.
These may look like simple tasks, but behind every well-designed pubmat, organized form, and properly scheduled email is a skill every student leader, future professional, and aspiring tourism practitioner needs to master.
And, of course, the first session came with its own character development arc.
STARS Auditor, Kyna, shared that she initially struggled with knowing what to design first and where to start in Canva.
STARS Multimedia Officer, Erica, admitted that she needed more time, especially with the limited activity duration.
Meanwhile, STARS PIO, Jay Are, shared that he genuinely enjoyed creating his email e-signatureโproof that even the smallest details can be surprisingly fun.
For Pres Rojan, the lesson went beyond simply learning how to use Canva. He emphasized that even professionals take time to reflect on where and how to begin a design. Having a clear vision before putting ideas into action can make the entire creative process more purposeful and effective.
Because leadership isn't always about knowing everything from the start. Sometimes, it's about knowing where to start.
And this is only Day 1.
Next week, the STARS Officers will take on a different kind of challenge as the training shifts from digital skills to INTERPERSONAL LEADERSHIP SKILLS.
New skills.
New challenges.
New wave of leaders.
