(Through the Roof!)

A paralyzed man has four fantastic friends who want Jesus to heal him. But the house where Jesus is teaching is so crowded they can't get through the door. Refusing to give up, they climb onto the roof, dig a giant hole right through it, and lower their friend's mat down directly in front of Jesus. Jesus loves their faith and heals the man, who stands up and carries his own mat home.

This story highlights true friendship, teaching children to be kind and help others to find Jesus.

Today, the children enjoyed fun and exciting balance games while learning an important lesson: just as we need balance to keep from falling, we also need God to guide and help us in our daily lives. ❤️

Through the activities, the children were reminded to trust God, follow His direction, and keep standing firm in faith even when things become challenging. 🙏

Jesus and his disciples are in a boat when a terrifying storm hits. Waves are crashing, and the disciples are scared. Meanwhile, Jesus is fast asleep! They wake him up in a panic. Jesus stands up, looks at the wild wind and waves, and commands, "Peace, be still!" Instantly, the wind stops, and the water becomes perfectly calm.

It teaches children that when they feel scared or worried, Jesus is powerful enough to bring them peace.

Today, the children learned that Jesus cares for everyone and has the power to heal and restore. Just as Jesus showed compassion to the l***r, we are also called to show love, kindness, and compassion to others. ❤️

The children were reminded that we can come to Jesus with faith, knowing that He hears us and cares for us. 🙏

Jedidiah: When Grace Gives a Name

“And he sent by the hand of Nathan the prophet; and he called his name Jedidiah, because of the LORD.” — 2 Samuel 12:25, KJV

There is something deeply beautiful about the name "Jedidiah"

It means “beloved of the LORD.” Yet the circumstances surrounding that name make it even more remarkable. Jedidiah was the name given to Solomon, the child born to David and Bathsheba after a painful chapter of sin, judgment, repentance, and loss.

That is where the beauty begins.

A Name Given in the Shadow of Failure

Before Solomon was called Jedidiah, David had committed grievous sin.

He had taken Bathsheba, the wife of Uriah, and arranged for Uriah's death. Nathan the prophet confronted David, and David confessed:

“I have sinned against the LORD.” — 2 Samuel 12:13, KJV

There were consequences for David's sin. God forgave David, but forgiveness did not mean that every consequence disappeared. The child born from that relationship died.

Then something unexpected happened.

David and Bathsheba had another son.

And God sent Nathan to give that child a name:

Jedidiah = beloved of the LORD.

This is striking because the name was not merely a celebration of Solomon's birth. It was a declaration of God's grace.

The story had contained sin, sorrow, judgment, and death, but it did not end there.

Why Was He Called Jedidiah?

The Bible gives us the answer plainly:

“And he called his name Jedidiah, because of the LORD.”
2 Samuel 12:25, KJV

The name means "beloved of the LORD".

Solomon would later become famous for his wisdom, wealth, temple-building, and kingship. But before any of those accomplishments, God gave him an identity:

---- BELOVED -----

That is important.

Solomon was not first introduced by what he would accomplish. He was identified by his relationship to God.

He would become a king, but before he wore a crown, he carried a name.

He would become wise, but before he became known for wisdom, he was known as beloved.

He would build the Temple, but before he built anything for God, God had already placed His favor upon him.

His identity came before his achievements.

Grace Does Not Erase the Past. It Gives the Future a New Beginning

The story of Jedidiah does not teach that sin has no consequences.

David's sin was serious. The consequences were real. There was grief that could not simply be undone.

But it also teaches something equally important:

A person's worst chapter does not have to be the final chapter.

David's failure did not prevent God from continuing His purposes.

In fact, Solomon would eventually become one of the greatest kings in Israel's history and would be entrusted with building the Temple of the LORD.

The Seven Things God Hates

Proverbs 6:16–19
There are things we naturally hate. Betrayal, injustice, cruelty, and lies. But have you ever stopped to ask: "What does God hate?"

Proverbs 6 gives us a sobering answer.

“These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:”
Proverbs 6:16, KJV

What follows is not merely a list of bad behaviors. It is a portrait of the "heart attitudes that God finds utterly detestable."

1. A proud look.

God begins with pride because pride places the self where God alone belongs. A proud look says, “I am better. I know more. I need no one.”Pride does not always shout. Sometimes it quietly compares.

2. A lying tongue.

God hates the distortion of truth. A lie may seem small to the one who speaks it, but truth matters to the God who “cannot lie”
(Titus 1:2)

3. Hands that shed innocent blood.

God values human life. Violence against the innocent is an assault upon something God Himself created. It reveals a heart willing to destroy what God considers precious.

4. An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations

Notice that God does not only judge what the hands accomplish. He sees what the heart plans in secret. Before wickedness becomes an action, it often becomes an imagination.

5. Feet that be swift in running to mischief.

Some people do not merely fall into sin, they run toward it. The warning is about eagerness. What we repeatedly hurry toward reveals what our hearts truly desire.

6. A false witness that speaketh lies.

This is more than ordinary dishonesty. It is using words to injure another person. God hates when our testimony becomes a weapon against someone who does not deserve it.

7. He that soweth discord among brethren.

The final picture is devastating: a person who plants division. Like a farmer scattering seeds, they scatter suspicion, gossip, resentment, and conflict and eventually harvest broken relationships.

Notice the progression: eyes, tongue, hands, heart, feet, testimony, relationships.

God searches the whole person.

And perhaps that is why this passage is so uncomfortable.

It is easy to read Proverbs 6 and point at someone else.

But Scripture was never given merely to help us identify wicked people.

It was given to "expose our own hearts."

Before we ask, “Who does these things?” we should ask, “Lord, is there any trace of these things in me?”

“Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts.”
( Psalm 139:23, KJV )

The seven things God hates are not simply seven sins to avoid. They are seven mirrors held before our souls.

May we never become experts at recognizing what God hates while remaining blind to what He wants to remove from us.

What Solomon’s Request Teaches Us About What We Should Really Ask God For

“And these were born unto him in Jerusalem; Shimea, and Shobab, and Nathan, and Solomon, four, of Bathshua the daughter of Ammiel.”
— 1 Chronicles 3:5, KJV

Imagine growing up in the household of a king.
You have a royal father, a royal mother, wealth, servants, influence, and every opportunity imaginable. You grow up alongside your brothers, sharing the same family, the same home, and the same history.
This was the beginning of Solomon's story.

The Bible tells us that David and Bathsheba had four sons mentioned by name: Shimea, Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon.

Yet among these four brothers, Solomon would experience a moment that would change his life forever.

God would give him an extraordinary invitation:
“Ask what I shall give thee.”
— 1 Kings 3:5, KJV

Think about that.
If God gave you the same opportunity today, what would you ask for?
More money?
A better job?
A bigger house?
Good health?
Success?
A longer life?
Revenge against someone who hurt you?

Solomon had the opportunity to ask for something that could benefit himself.
But he asked for something much greater.

He asked for wisdom.

What can we learn from this?

Solomon’s story reminds us that the greatest blessing is not always what we can possess, but what we can become through what we ask God for. Among his brothers, Solomon was given an extraordinary opportunity to ask for anything, yet he chose wisdom. Not wealth, power, or a longer life. His request revealed a heart that understood that true success begins with knowing how to live according to God’s will.

The lesson is simple: when we pray, let us not only ask God to change our circumstances; ask Him to change and guide us. We may ask for blessings, but let us also ask for wisdom to use them well. We may ask for success, but let us ask for a heart that honors God when success comes. Like Solomon, may we learn to desire not merely what God can give us, but what God can make us into.
