The Department of Pathology and Laboratories of Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center (MMMH&MC) held its Clinical Graduation Ceremony on October 30, 2025, at the Teatro Ilocandia of Mariano Marcos State University. The event gathered Medical Laboratory Science interns from eight prestigious universities including Northwestern University to celebrate the successful completion of the clinical training, recognizing the hard work, perseverance, and the commitment as they take the next step toward becoming licensed medical technologists.
To formally open the program, Ms. Janice L. Romero, RMT, MBA, a Medical Laboratory Science Internship Program Training Officer, delivered her opening remarks. Moreover, Dr. Modesty A. Leaรฑo, FPSP, MHcA, the Department Head of Pathology and Laboratories imparted her inspirational messages to the graduates. She reminded them that while they may come from different schools and backgrounds, they share one goal to serve with compassion, uphold integrity, and pursue excellence in every laboratory they step into.
Furthermore, a keynote address was presented by Mr. Diego L. Ofiaza, RMT, MPH, IFBA PC, recognized as the PRC Most Outstanding Professional in the Field of Medical Technology in 2024. He shared three values: Responsibility, Malasakit, and Integrity, which he encouraged the interns to embody as they take their next step toward becoming future medical technologists.
โEvery achievement big or small deserves celebration. With your knowledge youโll success, you reinforce your ability to achieve more. But equally important are the lessons learned along the way,โ he stated.
The event proceeded with the awarding of certificates and special awards, recognizing the internsโ dedication, commitment, and achievements. This was followed by the heartfelt testimonies from each representative of the interns from the eight universities reflecting on their journey in MMMH&MC. Among them was Ms. Patricia Rose D. Dancel, an intern from Northwestern University, who shared that the internship was more than just a requirement but became a transformative journey.
โLooking back on our first day, we were all trying to figure out how things would work. Pretending we knew what we were doing, when in reality, we didn't. And now, as I look back on our last shared moments, it's incredible to see how much we've grown. Not just as interns, but as individuals starting to take on what's next,โ she remarked.
Moreover, Ms. Dianne Laine Fred B. Bambico, an intern from LORMA Colleges and the Medical Laboratory Science Internship President of Batch Raniag 2025, formally concluded the program as she delivered her closing remarks. She highlighted the internship program as a defining milestone, where they put every theory and lectures into practice.
โThis is it; this is the real challenge in our journey. Be ready for what life has in store for us; be ready on how the medtech field will shake us; be ready for the people we will meet along the way, because life is all about preparedness,โ she stated.
The Clinical Graduation of Batch Raniag 2025 stood as a testament of the internsโ unwavering commitment and dedication in their successful journey at MMMH&MC. This milestone serves as a stepping stone as they move towards the real and professional world where every lesson, skill, and values they gained will shine through in their practice.
