The INNHS Debate Society proudly congratulates its contingent in 𝐊𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐠 𝐍𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲 last August 9-10, 2025.

⭐️𝐈𝐍𝐍𝐇𝐒 𝐁, composed of 𝐀𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐚 𝐃𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐨 (10 STE-Archimedes) and 𝐉𝐚𝐦𝐡𝐲𝐥𝐚 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐯𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐫 (10 STE-Einsten) rised as the 𝟕𝐭𝐡 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦, and finished their amazing run as 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐒𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭.

⭐️𝐉𝐚𝐲𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐒. 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐳 (12 HUMSS-Agoncillo) broke as an adjudicator, serving as the 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐏𝐫𝐞-𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭. He was also awarded as the 🎖𝟓𝐭𝐡 𝐁𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐉𝐮𝐝𝐠𝐞 of the tournament.

‎The 𝗜𝗡𝗡𝗛𝗦 𝗗𝗲𝗯𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆 kicked off this year’s debate season with a bang at the 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐋𝐮𝐳𝐨𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐞𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 (𝐍𝐋𝐈𝐃) held last July 19–20 and hosted by the 𝗡𝗟𝗜𝗗 𝗢𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗲! With our new batch of 𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘴𝘵-𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦𝘳𝘴 and 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘥 𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘪𝘰𝘳𝘴, this competition was filled with nerves, breakthroughs, and unforgettable memories.

The 𝐈𝐍𝐍𝐇𝐒 𝐃𝐞𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐬𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐝 𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐀𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐓𝐫𝐲-𝐎𝐮𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓–𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 on July 12 at Ilocos Norte National High School’s (INNHS) Teatro Manuela, with 𝟐𝟐 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐬 from Grades 7 to 11 participating.

Ahead of the try-outs, a two-day online lecture series was conducted on July 10–11 via Discord, led by senior members of the society—𝐉𝐚𝐲𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐒. 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐳 (INNHS DS President), 𝐉𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐚 𝐋𝐞𝐢-𝐕 𝐌𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐧𝐢 (Debate Captain), and 𝐀𝐛 𝐜 𝐝𝐞 𝐔. 𝐀𝐠𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐠 (Vice President). The lectures introduced the basics of debate and helped prepare applicants for the rounds.

The try-outs featured two rounds of constructive speeches, where participants showcased their skills and potential. By the end of the day, five new debaters and six official trainees were selected to join the organization. The Top 5 Best Speakers were also recognized for their performance.

More than just a try-outs, the event served as a reminder of what the Debate Society stands for—building confidence, encouraging critical thinking, and creating a space where students are heard. With new debaters joining the society, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐈𝐍𝐍𝐇𝐒 𝐃𝐒 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐬 𝐥𝐨𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐫, 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫.

Jamillia is one of the most well rounded debater that I know, her back often hurts...from carrying every burden in the round that I fail to carry. She’s the kind of partner who never makes you feel alone, who listens not just to respond, but to understand. He journals everything he wants, overthinks every round, and spirals just a little too often — but somehow, Jayson always finds his way back to the mic in hopes to deliver a better speech than the last round. 𝐈𝐟 𝐚𝐧𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐭’𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐚𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐚 𝐟𝐚𝐥𝐥, 𝐢𝐭’𝐬 𝐡𝐢𝐦.

Jayson might sometimes be a flop, but his slays include being the INNHS DS President, Kampala Open 3.0 Schools Champion and his other credentials are in the picture!🪄

"What makes INNHS DS special isn’t just that we debate. It’s how we do it. We learn to really listen, to look at things from different sides, and to stay calm under pressure. Beyond her seven-minute constructive that leaves everyone at the edge of their seats, she didn't only win rounds, but won our hearts—not with arguments with elaborated analysis, but with genuinity, kindness, and dedication to the debate society.

POI: What makes Abceedee special?

Amidst the chaotic fun there is in INNHS DS, she’s the one who balances us out. Reminding us that there is still work to be accomplished, so that we'd improve and be better.

However, it isn't always serious mode, when you need someone to rant too, she's willing to listen. When you just need to rant, she’s there, ears ready, no judgment. When your weird claims or quirky observations go unanswered, she’s the one to affirm them. Above all, she just gets the timing. Knowing when to be your unwavering friend, and when to step up as the leader we need.

We hope that your Sweet 16 is filled with moments that would empower you, and memories that you'd cherish and would keep you going.🧸💗
