What does it mean to understand women’s lives through the lens of political economy?

At the PROUT Maharlika Convention, Shriraksha Mohan will deliver a keynote on “Political Economy of Women” — an exploration of how gender roles shape economic life, and how economic systems, in turn, shape women’s opportunities, responsibilities, labor, agency, and participation in society.

Shriraksha Mohan is a student and advocate of PROUT, the Progressive Utilization Theory. She is the co-author of a chapter that presents PROUT as a holistic systems-change alternative in the book Climate Adaptation: Accounts of Resilience, Self-Sufficiency and Systems Change. She holds a Master of Science degree in Computer Science and has worked as a software professional for several years. She has also completed a Master of Science degree in Social and Applied Economics.

Her advocacy focuses on raising socio-economic and political awareness through PROUT education, writing, and outreach.

Interested participants are invited to sign up early to receive updates on the programme, speakers, registration process, and participation guidelines. Full details will be shared soon.

At the PROUT Maharlika Convention, we are pleased to introduce Tapati (Traicy Tarongoy), as one of the resource persons for the panel conversation “Beyond Performance: Arts, Cultural Imagination, and the Making of a Transformative Society.”

Tapati’s work moves through the living intersections of voice, music, healing, culture, and community. As a Cebuana healer-artist, experienced vocal coach, acupuncturist, world music practitioner, and cultural worker, she brings a deeply embodied understanding of how the arts can become more than expression — they can become pathways for memory, identity, healing, and transformation.

Her journey includes more than a decade of creative and cultural work, including collaborations with Joey Ayala’s Bagong Lumad, where music, movement, and Indigenous Filipino sensibilities come together as living practices of connection and renewal.
