UP Cebu Lantugi

UP Cebu Lantugi is the official debate society and varsity of the University of the Philippines Cebu.

Since its establishment in 2002, Lantugi continues to educate and develop students in the discipline of debate and public speaking with the goal of producing critical speakers, through active participation in debate tournaments and competitions throughout the country and beyond. In line with its thrusts to provide opportunities for students and the wider public to be immersed in public speaking an

d parliamentary debate, Lantugi hosts a number of debate competitions such as Speak UP, the Cebu Intervarsity, and collaborative training with other debate societies and organizations.

UP Cebu Lantugi Debate Society congratulates its contingent for their exemplary performance at PASUC National Culture and the Arts Festival (NCAF) Extemporaneous Speech Competition on April 9,2026.

Leif Fiel represented Region VII, demonstrating exceptional skill through his impactful and persuasive speech. His compelling message resonated with the broader audience, allowing his ideas to be clearly understood and appreciated.

We celebrate Leif for his achievement beyond the debate scene. The organization is proud of his accomplishment.

The UP Cebu Lantugi Debate Society proudly congratulates its members for their dynamic performance at the 10th Mindanao Intervarsity, hosted by Xavier University - Ateneo de Cagayan Parliamentary Debate Circle from March 27–29, 2026.

Ady Balimbingan and Del Cinco advanced as Open Semifinalists, with Ady also being recognized as the 3rd Best Open Speaker for her exceptional speeches and consistent performance. We also congratulate Leif Fiel and Romel Tala for being the 12th Breaking Team, with Leif being recognized as the 9th Best Open Speaker. We likewise commend Cian Royo and Quiana Tolentino for their performances in the tournament’s preliminary rounds.

On the adjudication front, Gasa Mutya was recognized as the 4th Best Judge and served as an Open Grand Finals Judge alongside Ysabelle Fabrero, both ensuring fair judgment. Both gave a wonderful tribute on the tournament's grand stage by throwing their roses for the grand finalists. We also extend our congratulations to Christine Bagazin for serving as a High School Grand Finals Judge, and to Adrian Magno for adjudicating as Chair of the Open Pre-Quarterfinals. We commend them for their performance and dedication.

We also commend Joriz Baje for serving on the Adjudication Core and for contributing his valuable insights for the tournament.

The organization is deeply proud of their accomplishments.

The UP Cebu Lantugi Debate Society proudly congratulates Ysabelle Fabrero for her exceptional achievement at Intertext Asia Schools Novice WSDC 2026, hosted by Intertext Education from March 21 to March 22, 2026.

Ysabelle was a subsidized adjudicator for the tournament and was recognized as the Overall Best Judge, showcasing exemplary skill and adjudication prowess. She served as the U14 (Under 14) Grand Finals Chair with her attentive deliberations and key insights in one of the tournament's most decisive rounds.

We commend Ysa for continuing to place Lantugi’s legacy on the international debate stage. The organization is proud of her achievement.

The UP Cebu Lantugi Debate Society proudly congratulates its members for their remarkable performance at Visayas Intervarsity 2026, hosted by Cebu Inter-School Debating Association from March 13–15, 2026.

We proudly congratulate Ady Balimbingan and Joriz Baje, who emerged as Open Grand Finalists, with both of them being recognized as the tournament’s Overall Best Speakers for their unmatched skill and prowess. We also extend our congratulations to Romel Tala and Fiel Leif, who, alongside Ady and Joriz, advanced as Grand Finalists, with Fiel Leif earning distinction as the 10th Best Speaker for his engaging speeches and analysis.

We commend Cian Royo and John Sitchon for reaching the Open Semi-Finals, with John Sitchon additionally being recognized as the 10th Best Speaker in the tournament for his well-developed and compelling cases. We likewise commend Del Cinco and Magi Fernandez, who competed as a composite team and were recognized as Open Semi-Finalists, while also securing ranks among the tournament’s 6th Best Speakers through their amazing teamwork.

On the adjudication front, we congratulate Christine Bagazin for being recognized as the tournament’s 5th Best Judge, as well as for adjudicating in the High School Grand Finals, with thoughtful deliberation.

We also recognize Gasa Bande, who served as the Equity Officer, ensuring fairness and upholding the integrity of the tournament.

UP Cebu Lantugi Debate Society congratulates its contingent for their exemplary performance during the recently concluded ASUGBOHOL 2026 Extemporaneous Speaking Competition held at Cebu Technological University on March 5, 2026.

Leif Fiel demonstrated exceptional skill throughout the competition and was distinguished as a Regional Champion, emerging victorious among participants from various schools and universities across Visayas.

We celebrate Leif for his achievement beyond the debate scene. The organization is proud of his accomplishment.

The UP Cebu Lantugi Debate Society proudly congratulates its members for their remarkable performance at the Visayas Pro-Am 2026, hosted by Cebu Debating on March 7–8, 2026.

We proudly congratulate Ady Balimbingan, who was recognized as the Open Grand Champion alongside her composite partner. She was also recognized as the Grand Finals Best Speaker and 5th Best Speaker, while her team placed as the 12th Breaking Team, showcasing her outstanding performance and exceptional skill.

We also commend our competing teams for representing Lantugi. We commend contingents Adrian Magno and Crispin Caballero showcased commendable teamwork, with Crispin Caballero also being recognized as the 8th Best Novice Speaker of the tournament. We also commend Hizam Tuan and Kathlyn Montero, as well as Ysabelle Fabrero, for showcasing consistent skill throughout the preliminary rounds.

On the adjudication front, we congratulate Romel Tala for being recognized as the Overall Best Judge of the tournament while also serving as an Equity Officer, ensuring fairness and integrity throughout the rounds.

Joriz Lowel Baje served as part of the Core Adjudication Panel and as Tab Personnel, maintaining the smooth flow of the tournament.

Gasa Bande served as the Tournament Director, creating Visayas Pro-Am to inspire knowledge transfer between experienced debaters and novices, strengthening the regional debate community. This tournament would not have been possible without her initiative.

Working alongside the Tournament Director, Cian Royo and Jacob Sarabosing served as Technical Personnel, with Jacob also serving as Tab Personnel, assisting in the management of the tournament tab alongside the Core Adjudication Panel.

Once again, congratulations to all our debaters, adjudicators, and organizers.

The UP Cebu Lantugi Debate Society proudly congratulates Adrian Magno for his exceptional achievement at the Hiraya Debate Cup 2026, hosted by the Parthenon Debate Society last February 28 – March 1, 2026.

Adrian served as an Invited Adjudicator and was hailed as the 4th Best Judge, showcasing outstanding consistency throughout the competition. He also served as an Open Grand Finals Judge, giving his insight and ensuring fair adjudication in one of the tournament's decisive rounds.

We celebrate this milestone and commend Adrian for continuing to elevate Lantugi’s legacy on the national debate stage. The organization is proud of his achievement.

The UP Cebu Lantugi Debate Society proudly congratulates its members for their exemplary performance at Pilipinas Novice Debates.

We proudly congratulate UPC Team Low Cortisol Debating, consisting of Quiana Tolentino and Ysabelle Fabrero, who are PND's Novice Grand Champions, showcasing amazing skill and teamwork throughout the tournament. Quiana Tolentino was also recognized as the 6th Best Novice Speaker and Grand Finals Best Speaker, a clear testament to her talent and consistency.

We also commend our competing team UPC You Deleted a Message, consisting of Vince Dispo and Joseph Dacillo, for their commendable performance in the preliminary rounds.

On the adjudication front, we congratulate Del Cinco for being recognized as the 6th Best Judge and for serving as a High School Finals Judge. We also congratulate Romel Tala for his adjudication performance and for serving as a Novice Pre-Semifinals Judge.

This tournament would not have been possible without the insights of Ady Balimbingan, who served as part of the Core Adjudication Panel for the tournament. Pilipinas Novice Debates was her brainchild and a manifestation of her commitment to cultivating and empowering the next generation of Filipino debaters.

Ensuring fairness and safety, Gasa Mutya served as an Equity Officer, alongside Del Cinco. They safeguarded the welfare of the debaters and the quality of the rounds in Pilipinas Novice Debates.

Cian Royo served as the Tournament Director and Technical Personnel for the event and was assisted by Jacob Sarabosing, both helped ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the tournament.

The UP Cebu Lantugi Debate Society proudly congratulates Joriz Baje and Gasa Mutya for their outstanding achievement at the 50th Mindanao Parliamentary Debate Championship 2026, hosted by Ateneo De Davao OnSight last January 16-18, 2026.

Joriz Baje was an Invited Adjudicator and was recognized as the 10th Best Judge. He also served as the College SemiFinals Judge, showcasing strong adjudication skills and steady performance throughout the tournament.

On the same front, Gasa Mutya was a subsidized adjudicator and hailed as Shadow CAP. She was also recognized as the 5th Best Judge and further distinguished herself as a College Finals Judge, reflecting her strong adjudication skill and competency.

We celebrate this achievement and commend them both for their prowess and continuing to elevate Lantugi’s legacy on the debate stage.

The UP Cebu Lantugi Debate Society proudly congratulates its members for their outstanding performance at Cebu Novice - Asian Parliamentary 2026.

UPC Team AAQ composed of Allan Jumuad, Athela Gamali, and Quiana Tolentino were the 6th Breaking Team and Novice Quarterfinalists with their excellent teamwork and perseverance. Allan Jumuad was also recognized as the 8th Best College Speaker. We also commend Team KCC composed of Kathlyn Montero, Crispin Caballero, and Cim Klerk Bacolod as well as Team Powerpuff Girls composed of Maxhine Selgas, Joseph Dacillo, and Kevin Francisco for their efforts throughout the preliminary rounds.

On the adjudication front, Gasa Mutya continues to showcase her adjudication excellence and was recognized as the Overall Best Judge. She served as the Highschool Grand Finals Chair as well as CNAP's Equity Officer.

In the same vein, Reaneil Cañete continued to demonstrate adjudication prowess, ranking as the 2nd Best Judge and serving as a Novice Grand Finals Judge alongside Invited Adjudicator Ady Balimbingan. Both guided the final round with their insight and professionalism.

Adrian Magno served as a Novice Semi-Finals Judge, contributing their careful acumen to their rounds. We also commend Leif Fiel for their effort and thoughtful adjudication throughout the preliminary rounds.

Offering his dedication and expertise, Jan Endrina served as a member of the Core Adjudication Panel for this tournament.

This tournament would not have been possible without its Organizing Committee. CNAP - 2026 was directed by Joriz Baje, who also served as the TAB officer. He was assisted by Cian Royo and Jacob Sarabosing, serving as technical officers, ensuring the smooth running of the tournament.
