Benchmarking Visit in General Santos City.

The Local Government Unit conducted a benchmarking activity at the City Government of General Santos City. As part of the visit, the members of the Sangguniang Bayan attended the regular session of the Sangguniang Panlungsod to gain insights into effective legislation, as well as parliamentary rules and procedures.

This initiative aims to learn from an ISO-certified city government, strengthening our own practices toward promoting transparency, efficiency, and excellence in local governance.

The pillars of our local government convened for the Executive-Legislative Agenda (ELA) meeting to deliberate on the Local Development Investment Program (LDIP), ensuring the alignment of executive and legislative priorities toward the realization of the municipality’s development goals.

On October 8, led by Councilor Shaquille M. Arazo and Councilor Teresa A. Delima, a meeting was held for the passing of the Comprehensive Children’s Welfare Code Ordinance, attended by the school heads who actively shared their insights in support of the measure aimed at promoting the welfare and protection of children.

On October 9, Councilor Heranomi R. Macabodbod, SKMF President and sponsor of the resolution, led the consultative meeting requesting the Local School Board of the Municipality of Lagonglong for the active implementation of Republic Act No. 10627, otherwise known as the “Anti-Bullying Act of 2013.” The initiative underscores the commitment of the Sangguniang Bayan to foster safer learning environments for all students.

Finally, on October 10, a committee meeting was conducted by the member of the Sangguniang Bayan Councilor Ken B. Dagala, Chairman and Councilor Edgardo C. Cainglet, Co-Chairman to deliberate on the Ordinance Regulating the Management of Irrigation Systems and Development Programs, focusing on improving agricultural productivity and sustainable water resource management in the municipality.

September 26, 2025 | The Sangguniang Bayan participated in the 2025 Local Legislative Award – Assessment, where evaluators personally reviewed the processes and practices of our Legislative Department.

The SB received positive feedback, along with valuable suggestions that will serve as a guide in further enhancing the quality of services in the legislature.

Thanks to our SB Secretary Florante A. Castil for his first-time participation in this evaluation and for ensuring that all preparations and documentation were well-presented.

The Sangguniang Bayan, together with the DPWH, conducted an ocular inspection of proposed and ongoing projects in our municipality. The status of existing projects, as well as those yet to be submitted that require urgent attention and assistance, are hoping to be included in the agency’s priorities for the next national budget, just as our local chief executive travels to Manila to seek opportunities and secure projects for our community.
